^C^1PC-Key-Draw
^Cfrom
^COEDWare
^C^1This program requires a CGA (Color Graphics Adapter) or compatible display.
^C^1It will not work on monochrome systems without graphics capability.
Whether you're a professional artist, have visions of becoming one, or just
like to sketch, you are likely to have at least a casual interest in creating
computer graphics, the high-tech artform that proves that computers are not just
cold and mathematical. Maybe you bought your PC to do humdrum stuff like
general ledgers, but it's also a tool for artistic expression. But if you don't
have the proper software, that stunning art will remain cooped up inside you,
with no way of transferring it to your PC's screen.
Enter PC-Key-Draw, a popular program for computerized graphics. With it, you
can use your keyboard to create and edit graphics screens in the PC's colorful
medium-resolution mode, or create finer images in high-res.
Extensive documentation is included on disk in the file KD-DOC.TXT, which you
should print out (by typing ^1DOC^0 from DOS, with disk 2 in your drive) before
running the program.
If you're interested in PC-Key-Draw, you'll probably want to have the demos
and screens included on the PC-Key-Draw Library Disk #1. Subscribers can get
this from us free on request. Retail purchasers may obtain the Library Disk
from us for an $8 handling fee, or get it free if accompanied by a subscription
order.
^C^1BIG BLUE DISK Readers Exempt from Shareware Fee
PC-Key-Draw is normally considered a "shareware" program. This means that
the author expects satisfied users to reward him with registration payments.
However, we at BIG BLUE DISK have made special arrangements for the shareware
fees to be waived in the case of purchasers of BIG BLUE DISK. If you obtained
the program through a subscription or retail purchase of BIG BLUE DISK, you
are not under any legal or moral obligation to send any money to the author;
enjoy the program on us with a clear conscience. However, you still may wish to
register the program in order to receive the additional library disks and
technical support this entails. See the documentation file for more details.
Note that if you are not the original purchaser of this copy of BIG BLUE DISK
(e.g., a friend who subscribes let you copy PC-Key-Draw from it), you are ^1not^0
exempt, and must pay the shareware fee in order to use the program.
^C^1Getting Started
PC-Key-Draw is not runnable from our menu. To run it, type ^1MENU^0 from DOS,
with disk 2 in your drive. This brings up a list of choices including an option
to print out the documentation, as well as the ^1KD^0 command to get into the
program itself.
^C^1Try This Sample Picture
If you're eager to get into the program, you should print out this text. The
following instructions will help you draw a famous figure on your screen.
Put disk 2 of this issue in drive A if you have a two-floppy system and enter
^1KD^0 from DOS.
A configuration list will appear on your screen. You can ignore everything
except the WORKSPACE DRIVE and the COMPLETED DRAWINGS DRIVE. You will probably
need to change these to configure PC-Key-Draw to your system. On a two drive
system, hit the escape key. If you're working on a hard disk change these to C
and hit escape. Don't save the configuration to disk on the original BIG BLUE
DISK, because there is no room to save the file.
When it asks you to set the scale enter ^1n^0. Now, press the following
