  9.    This template won our template contest for ExpressCalc, which appeared in
  10. issue #12.  Templates are files you load into spreadsheets to make them do
  11. useful things.  We may be publishing more contest entries in future issues.
  12. Users are invited to submit other templates, whether for ExpressCalc, or for
  13. other programs such as Lotus 1-2-3.  Write for our submission guidelines.

  15.    This template calculates the Chi-square and Yate's corrected Chi-square
  16. values for integers entered into the "grid" at A, B, C, and D.  The statistical
  17. significance of the chi-square is computed and reported as the probabilty.  If
  18. probability is <.05 then the null hypothesis of independence must be rejected
  19. because a dependence or relationship between rows and columns has been
  20. established by this test.

  22.    A verbal interpretation of "significant" or "not significant" also appears in
  23. the results box.  Refer to standard statistics texts to determine the
  24. appropriateness of this test in any given situation.

  26.    This program is for 2 X 2 contingency tables.  It calculates the Yate's
  27. corrected chi-square if the value in A, B, C or D is less than or equal to 5,
  28. otherwise the Yate's value is returned as "not applicable."  If the Yate's value
  29. is applicable, then this value is used in determining significance, otherwise
  30. the Chi-square value is used.

  32.    The critical value reported in the results box is for the level of
  33. probability reported.  If probability is reported as >.05 then the critical
  34. value for the .05 level of significance is reported as .05, the minimal
  35. statistically significant level.
