BIG BLUE DISK Online
BIG BLUE DISK has gone online! Now you can reach us through our
Bulletin Board System, SOFT FIDO. Here are the details:
Phone Number : (318) 636-4402
Baud rate : 300 or 1200
Hours : 24 hours daily, 7 days a week.
SOFT FIDO is free to the public; there is no charge for its use. (Of course,
if you live outside our local calling area, the phone company will charge you,
but that's not ^1our^0 fault. Since the system is available 24 hours, you can
call at night or during the weekend, when rates are lowest.)
You can submit your programs and comments to SOFT FIDO. Follow the
instructions elsewhere in this issue for submitting programs.
A variety of files are available for download, including public domain and
shareware programs, and sample programs and text from BIG BLUE DISK and other
SOFTDISK, INC. publications. The selection of downloads has been increasing
every day; check it out!
SOFT FIDO is a node on the worldwide FidoNet. This means that messages and
files can be sent from any other FidoNet system. There are over 1000 FidoNet
nodes, everywhere from Corpus Christi, Texas to Helsinki, Finland. There's
probably one near you.
Messages and files may be sent to us from any other Fido system. Send them
to ^1Sysop^0 on ^1FIDO 19/216^0. They will be treated just as if you had logged
in directly to us and posted or uploaded them. For more information, find out
the number of the nearest Fido to you (check the list of BBS's at your local
user group, or call our system and download our complete list of FIDOs
worldwide), call that system, and write a message to its sysop asking for more
information on how to use FidoNet. Policies will vary depending on who is the
sysop, but in general you will have to send him money to establish an account.
This money is to cover the telephone bills incurred in sending such messages;
BIG BLUE DISK does not profit from FidoNet messages to or from SOFT FIDO.
If you have any further questions, ask them on SOFT FIDO, or in a file
of feedback text created with the BLUELINE editor and sent to us on a floppy
disk.
Daniel Tobias
Sysop of SOFT FIDO
