  30. SHAREWARE DESCRIPTION

  32.    SIMSTAT and its related programs are NOT public domain or
  33.    freeware! The SIMSTAT package is a copyrighted software product
  34.    developed and owned by Normand Peladeau.
  35.  
  36.    SIMSTAT is distributed as shareware.  As such, individuals may
  37.    evaluate the SIMSTAT package for a maximum period of 30 days.  At
  38.    the end of the evaluation period, if you find SIMSTAT to be a
  39.    useful tool and wish to continue using it, you must register your
  40.    copy with the author, Normand Peladeau.

  42.    Registration entitles you to a copy of the current version of
  43.    SIMSTAT and a free copy of the next version when it becomes
  44.    available.  This copy will be mailed to you as soon as it is
  45.    released. Registered use also receive a printed and bounded
  46.    manual and 90 days of free support (vial mail and CompuServe).

  48.    Registered users who have already received their upgrade of
  49.    SIMSTAT may order the next version by paying a minimal fee.

  83.    An application programming interface (API) for Simstat is currently
  84.    under development.  If you are a programmer interested in developing
  85.    add-in programs to perform specific type of analysis currently not
  86.    available in SIMSTAT, please contact the author (see address below).

  88. NONLIN -- Nonlinear Regression Program
  89. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

  91.    If you like SIMSTAT but need need a powerful nonlinear regression
  92.    program that can perform statistical regression with general equations,
  93.    I suggest you try the Nonlin program written by Phillip H. Sherrod.

  95.    Nonlin is a powerful nonlinear regression program that can fit a
  96.    general equation, whose form you specify using normal algebraic
  97.    notation, to a set of data values. The fitted equation can include
  98.    polynomial, exponential, log, square root, and transcendental
  99.    functions including trigonometric, Bessel, Chebyshev polynomials.
  100.    The fitted function may even be piecewise continuous.

  102.    Nonlin can be used as a stand-along program or invoked as an "add-in"
  103.    from SIMSTAT using the SIM2NL utility program.  The shareware version
  104.    of Nonlin is available from many BBS or you can contact the author at
  105.    the address below.  Nonlin version 2.2 or later is required for use
  106.    with SIMSTAT.
