  8. LASR_MAN prints ASCII text files on a laser/ink jet printer in any of 36 
  9. styles. Great for program manuals and listings, wide spreadsheets, database 
  10. listings, legal documents - save up to 93% of your paper usage! Available 
  11. styles include: normal portrait or landscape orientation each with five 
  12. font sizes ranging from 10 to 33 characters per inch; multiple text pages 
  13. per paper sheet - 2, 4, 8 or 16; individual files where each is printed in 
  14. the form of a pamphlet; file groups printed together, each file as a 
  15. chapter, in the form of a book with 4, 8 or 16 text pages per sheet. Many 
  16. options including custom covers and header/footer page titles, "rubber 
  17. stamp", and selection of options/files. The editable configuration file 
  18. includes commands to print on letter, legal or A4 size paper.

  20. LMAN524A contains the program & font files for HP IID/IIP/III/IV printers. 
  21. LMAN524B contains font files for HP LJ+ printers.
  22. LMAN524C contains font files for HP II printers.

  25. LASR_MAN prints ASCII text files (those without format control characters) 
  26. on a laser or ink jet printer in any of thirty-six styles. Available styles 
  27. include: normal portrait or landscape orientation, each with five font 
  28. sizes ranging from ten to thirty-three characters per inch; multiple pages 
  29. per paper sheet - two, four, eight, or sixteen; individual files, where 
  30. each is printed in the form of a pamphlet; groups of files printed 
  31. together, each file as a chapter, in the form of a book.

  33. LASR_MAN can dramatically decrease the amount of paper required to print 
  34. many of your documents - by as much as 93%. It can also save laser toner 
  35. (except for the Pica pitch, the characters are smaller) and wear and tear 
  36. on the printer (less paper passing through). It's great for use with draft 
  37. documents, program listings and manuals, wide spreadsheets, database 
  38. listings, legal documents, etc. You can select the print pitch size based 
  39. on usage: normal and medium sizes for everyday use, small and tiny print 
  40. for draft, occasional, and archival purposes.

  42. Many options are available including custom header/footer page titles, 
  43. cover files, a halftone "rubber stamp", and menu option/file(s) selection. 
  44. Other options include user levels, menu colors, customizable page header, 
  45. print fonts to use, and substitution of spaces for tabs. The configuration 
  46. file includes commands for printing on letter, legal, and A4 size paper.

  48. One option of especial importance is that of USER LEVEL. There are three 
  49. user levels available within the system: "Normal", "Advanced", and 
  50. "Expert". These user levels control the number of available options and the 
  51. background information displays.

  53. The default printer commands are configured for use with several Hewlett-
  54. Packard LaserJet and DeskJet printer models. However all printer commands 
  55. are available to the user in the configuration file and each may be changed 
  56. for use with other printers.

  58. Hardware Requirements: IBM PC, XT, AT or true compatibles, any monitor,
  59.                        Hewlett-Packard LaserJet or DeskJet printer, or com-
  60.                        patible. May also be used with other laser/ink jet 
  61.                        printers that use PCL after defining their printer
  62.                        command codes in the configuration file.
