  44.  INFO-BASE  is  a  file  management system for  the  IBM  PC  and 
  45.  compatibles. The structure can be compared to commercial systems 
  46.  such  as  Infostar  and  Versa-Form.   This  package  is  'user-
  47.  supported',  however,  but version 1.0 (as distributed) does not 
  48.  contain all modules needed for an all-round program.  Additional 
  49.  modules are available in version 2.0, to be ordered for $ 45.
  50.     The  setup  and documentation seem to be  thorough,  and  the 
  51.  screen  design is user friendly.  The system as distributed is a 
  52.  good  way to try out a well-designed file manager,  but  is  not 
  53.  useful for production;  without sorting capabilities,  you can't 
  54.  handle  much applications well.  If the approach suits you well,

  58.   INFO-BASE is FORMS driven;  that is you create FORMS (documents) 
  59.  that function as reports or as DATA entry screens.
  60.  If  the FORM defines all of the FIELDS that are to be stored  in 
  61.  the  DATABASE  (a MASTER FORM),  then this FORM may be  used  to 
  62.  create a DATABASE.  Other FORMS which contain some or all of the 
  63.  DATA FIELDS (SUBFORMS) can then access this same DATABASE.

  65.   Two  DATABASES  (same or different) may be  open  concurrently, 
  66.  each accessed by a FORM (same or different FORM).

  68.  INFO-BASE  is composed of several modules.   Each Module has two 
  69.  sets of help information screens.   INFO-BASE is planned to have 
  70.  the following modules:

  72.  1.  IBASE    Used  to enter and update DATA,  and to  print  the 
  73.               DATA  such  as in mailmerging or preprinted  FORMS.  
  74.               In version 1.0 IBASE also creates DATABASES.
  75.  2.  FORMGEN  Creates  FORMS.   It has a text editor for  drawing 
  76.               the  FORM and collects information such  as  CURSOR 
  77.               SEQUENCE,  FIELD  POSITION within the DATABASE  RE-
  78.               CORD, FIELD LABELS (tags), and FIELD YPE (character 
  79.               or numeric).
  80.  3.  SORT     Sorts the DATABASE   (available in Version 2.0 - to 
  81.               be bought for $ 45 !)
  82.  4.  UTILITY  Clones DATABASES,   selects RECORDS based on selec-
  83.               tion criteria (available in version 2.0)
