Most windscreen failures are caused by stone chips thrown up from the rear tyres of
the vehicle ahead of you
To help to reduce the probability of this happening, hold back and leave a bigger gap - especially when driving over loose surfaces or gravel
A bad chip in a windscreen can easily spread across the screen, so it's a good idea to get it repaired sooner rather than later
