  1. Whilst it is possible to just use ordinary tap water, it is a very good idea to use a screen wash solution for the following reasons:

  3. 1. Your windscreen wiper blades will be more effective at clearing the screen
  4. 2. The wiper blades are less likely to stick to the screen and "judder"
  5. 3. The fluid will help to prevent the rubber of the windscreen wiper blades from perishing
  6. 4. The fluid contains an anti-freeze solution, helping to keep you moving in very cold conditions
  7.  
  8. Avoid spilling the neat washer fluid on your car's paintwork, as it can cause damage.
  9. Check the content of your washer bottle before making a long journey, especially in winter when the roads have been salted
  10.  
  11. If you must use a funnel to fill the bottle - ensure that the funnel has not previously been used for oil
  12.  
  13. Avoid introducing any dust or other solids into the container as these can block the nozzles
