Labels:text | screenshot OCR: The ignition and starter are in one multi-position switch on most vehicles, but some cars have a separate starter switch. The switch is usually located on the steering column and includes an anti-theft device which locks the steering wheel. A slight movement of the wheel is sometimes needed when turning the ignition key to free the anti-theft lock. Before placing the key in the lock always check that the handbrake is on and that the gear lever is in neutral. 0 Activate The switch has three positions apart from key entry point. To start the car engine turn the key to its third and maximum position for around 2 to 4 seconds, just long enough to get the engine running. If you keep the key in the starter position the starter motor remains engaged and may well burn out.
