OCR: Direction indicators play a major role in road safety and communications between road users. Their purpose is to show other road users which direction you intend to take. Their correct use ( i.e. appropriate to your road position and manoeuvre timing) is vital to your safe driving. Indicators are used for: moving off, moving to the left or the right, turning left or right, overtaking and parking. Speak to your instructor who will be able to fully explain all the different scenarios, because at the end of the day it is a judgment call on the particular road and traffic. KN5I FNJ LEFT RIGHT Indicator switches are usually found on a stalk either side of the steering column immediately behind the wheel. The automatic self-cancelling of indicator switches may not work after a slight change of direction so always check that they are cancelled after you have completed a change of direction.
