OCR: Most vehicles have an interior mirror and 2 side mirrors which give a view of the road behind and each side of the car. They are vital as they keep you up to date with what is happening around the vehicle and help you to make safe and sensible decisions based upon other nearby road users. There are many different types of mirrors. Speak to your driving instructor who will explain the different views that you get with different mirrors and why they vary as they do. Adjust Outwards Adjust Inwards Mirror view Blindspots Mirrors should be kept clean and correctly adjusted for the driving position to give a maximum view of the traffic situation behind. Always use the mirror before: moving off, signalling, turning left or right, slowing, reversing, changing lanes, overtaking or stopping. When looking in the mirrors, make sure you look long enough to properly and correctly assess the situation you are observing.
