OCR: The gear lever enables you to change from one gear to another. Cars have four or more gears and a reverse. Gears are for matching road speed with engine speed. The lever moves through a neutral position to each gear position. The first 4 gears are often placed in an 'H' format. R 1 3 5 Raise Gear 2 4 Lower Gear The gear positions vary from car to car and should be memorised, as the eyes should be kept on the road when changing from one gear to another gear.
