  2. WinCMD 4 Instructions

  6. Installing WinCMD
  7.  
  8. Note: If there is a previous version on your computer, it is reccomended
  9.    that it be deleted before installing WinCMD 4.  Any previous settings will
  10.    be automatically imported into WinCMD 4.  Previous versions of WinCMD 4 will
  11.    be replaced automatically.

  13. Unzip the Archive onto your hard disk (the windows directory is a good place),
  14.    then use "Add Item" from the "File" menu to import the item.  The file name
  15.    is "WINCMD4.EXE".
  16.  
  17.    The File Manager Driver will be automatically installed the first time that
  18.    WinCMD is run.  However, To manually install the File Manager Driver, make 
  19.    sure the file "WCFM.DLL" is in the same directory as "WINCMD4.EXE".  In 
  20.    the "WINFILE.INI" file, add the following line in the [AddOn] section:
  21.     WinCMD Extension=C:\WINDOWS\WCFM.DLL
  22.    If you are using a different directory than windows, put in the appropiate path.
  23.    Restart File Manager.

  25.    Note: If File Manager is currently running, The new File Manager Entries will
  26.    not appear until File Manager is exited and restarted.

  28. File Manager Extensions:
  29.  
  30.    There are two menu items in the File Manager.  These are "Start CLI" and
  31.    "Background Copy".
  32.  
  33.    Start CLI: This will start the CLI in the current directory.
  34.  
  35.    Background Copy:  This will prompt for source and destination file names, 
  36.     then copy them in iconic form.
  37.  
  38.    These entries will also appear on the Norton Desktop Menu.

  40.    If you are using File Manager version 3.11 or higher (shipped after October 1992) 
  41.    then two Toolbar Icons will be seen.  These may be edited just like the other
  42.    Toolbar Icons.

  44.    Due to a bug in File Manager, it will not support more than three extensions.
  45.    If there are already three or more, only the first three will be loaded.

  48. the WinCMD command line (or by clicking on the question mark on the WinCMD toolbar).
