  7. Voice Clock! is a Microsoft Windows program whose purpose is to announce the
  8. time of day at 1 minute, 15 minutes, 30 minutes or 1 hour intervals, using 
  9. digitized human speech reproduced through a sound card or using Microsoft's 
  10. Speaker Driver for 286 and 386 computers.  The program will function in 
  11. all Windows modes: real, standard, or enhanced.

  13. There are 4 files in the archive:

  15.        VCLOCK2.EXE   -  Voice Clock executable.
  16.        VCLOCK.NDX    -  Voice File Definition.
  17.        VCLOCK.SND    -  Voice File.
  18.        README.TXT    -  This file.

  20. INSTALLATION:

  22. To install the program, simply copy all files into the same directory.
  23. Start the program as you would any other windows program (i.e. create
  24. a program item in Program Manager, or select File/Run from the Program 
  25. Manager menu and type VCLOCK2.EXE preceded with the full pathname).

  27. NOTE: All previous Voice Clock 1.0 series version files can be deleted.

  29. VOICE QUALITY:
  30.  
  31. Voice quality is dependant of your computer system.  Although, Microsofts'
  32. Speaker Driver works well with most 386's and 486's; there's no
  33. substitute for a sound card.

  35. This product was developed on a 486DX-25, 8mb RAM, and SoundBlaster Pro.

  37. CLOCK OPTIONS:
  38.  
  39. Voice Clock has three desktop modes: 
  40.  
  41.     (1) TITLE BAR WINDOW - In this mode the time is displayed in 
  42.         the current title window. The announcement interval may be set 
  43.         to 1, 15, 30 or hour, by default it is NONE.

  45.     (2) DESKTOP CLOCK - When set, a small window clock will appear. Time 
  46.         will announced based on system settings. 
  47.  
  48.     (3) NONE- No clock present-time will still announce if system settings
  49.         are set.
  50.  
  51. When the program is first started, a logo banner will appear for about 10 
  52. seconds.  A Voice saying "Have You Registered?" will be announced for un-
  53. registered versions. The banner will disappear.A clock will now appear which 
  54. can be used to change preferences.  At this point, Voice Clock is running with 
  55. default settings. If you want to hear an announcement without waiting for the defined time interval, place the mouse 
  56. cursor over the LARGE WINDOW FORM and depress the mouse button-"Voice Clock!"
  57. will announce the current time.

  59. This program was originally written as a tool to help us keep up with the time 
  60. while programming or working under Windows. After using other "digital voice 
  61. clocks," we felt it necessary to produce our own to incorporate more options 
  62. and greater sound quality.

  64. It was shown to a few friends of ours (they loved it) and the rest 
  65. is history!  Many other companies have used this program when billing clients 
  66. while working in windows based programs. It has served as a complement
  67. to many business packages.

  78. Version 2.0, although complete, does not take full advantage of the 
  79. Multimedia extensions. Registered will users receive the full capabilites that 
  80. Voice Clock has to offer along with 2 voice settings.
