  15. SuperClip is a clipboard viewer that can save all or part of the
  16. image on the clipboard to a graphics file in BMP, GIF, or PCX
  17. format.  In Windows, the entire screen can be captured to the
  18. clipboard at any time by pressing the PrtSc key (Shift-PrtSc on
  19. 84-key keyboards), or just the currently active window by press-
  20. ing Alt-PrtSc.  SuperClip does not need to be running in order to
  21. do this.  SuperClip can then be opened to save the entire clip-
  22. board, or the image can be cropped by using the mouse to frame
  23. a rectangle of any size within the window before saving to disk.

  25. To save, choose the desired format from the File menu.  A dialog
  26. box will list the files of the selected format in the current
  27. directory.  You may select one of the files listed or type a new
  28. file name in the edit box.  To change to another drive or direc-
  29. tory, highlight that item in the list box and click OK.

  31. When minimized to an icon or hidden by another window, SuperClip
  32. is still active in "popup" mode, which means it will pop up onto
  33. the screen or become visible whenever an image is placed on the
  34. clipboard.  You can then save the entire image or any rectangular
  35. portion.  To return to the application that was interrupted, just
  36. click on that application's title bar or minimize SuperClip back
  37. to an icon.  You can turn popup mode off by selecting "Popup" in
  38. the Options menu, which will remove the checkmark next to this
  39. menu item.

  41. In popup mode, SuperClip will pop up when you press the PrtSc key
  42. OR when another application places a bitmap on the clipboard that
  43. is compatible with SuperClip.  The compatible formats are DDB
  44. (Device-Dependent Bitmap) and DIB (Device-Independent Bitmap),
  45. the two most commonly-used bitmap formats.  If you attempt to
  46. save a clipboard bitmap whose format is not one of these two,
  47. SuperClip will respond with a dialog box that says "No bitmap
  48. exists on the clipboard."

  51. Cropping the Clipboard Image
  52.  
  53. The SuperClip display window can scroll the clipboard image hor-
  54. zontally and vertically by means of the scroll bars.  To mark a
  55. rectangular area for cropping, move the cursor to one of the top
  56. corners of the desired rectangle, depress the left mouse button,
  57. move the cursor to the diagonally opposite corner and release the
  58. button.  Repeat this process to erase the rectangle and draw a
  59. new one.  The width and height of the rectangle in pixel units
  60. will be displayed in the title bar, as will the x,y coordinates
  61. of the upper-left (UL) and lower-right (LR) corners of the rec-
  62. tangle.  The origin of these coordinates is the upper-left corner
  63. of the window display area.

  65. To save the cropped image, select the desired format from the
  66. File menu.  To erase the rectangle, press Esc or position the
  67. cursor anywhere on the image and click and release the left mouse
  68. button.

  73. Select this menu item to save the contents of the clipboard to an
  74. uncompressed Windows Bitmap File with the filename extension BMP.
  75. 16-color, 256-color, and 24-bit TrueColor modes are supported.

  78. File Menu Item: Save as GIF
  79.  
  80. Select this menu item to save the contents of the clipboard to a
  81. CompuServe Graphics Interchange Format file with the filename ex-
  82. tension GIF.  This format utilizes LZW compression, and supports
  83. 16 and 256-color modes.  GIF does not support 24-bit color modes.

  86. File Menu Item: Save as PCX

  88. Select this menu item to save the contents of the clipboard to
  89. a PC Paintbrush file with the filename extension PCX.  16-color,
  90. 256-color, and 24-bit TrueColor modes are supported.

  93. File Menu Item: Open BMP
  94.  
  95. Select this item from the File menu to open a BMP file and place
  96. it on the clipboard.  The image can now be saved in any of the
  97. three available formats, or cropped and then saved.

  100. Main Menu Item: Options
  101. Three options are available:
  102.  
  103. Clear clipboard.
  104.   Select this menu item to empty the clipboard.
  105.  
  106. Popup mode.
  107.   This is the default mode of SuperClip.  When minimized to an
  108.   icon or hidden by another window, SuperClip will pop up onto
  109.   the screen whenever the clipboard receives a new bitmap image.
  110.   Select this menu item to turn popup mode off or back on again.
  111.   To return to the application that was interrupted, click on
  112.   that application's title bar or minimize SuperClip back to an
  113.   icon.

  115. Client rectangle.
  116.   Select this menu item to draw, without using the mouse, a
  117.   rectangle that contains the entire client area of the SuperClip
  118.   window.  When the image is saved, the window borders and scroll
  119.   bars will not be included in the image.  To erase the rectan-
  120.   gle, press Esc or click and release the left mouse button.
