  2. README FILE FOR WINLOGO
  3. -----------------------

  5. WINLOGO is a program for Windows 3.1 which allows users to
  6. change the Windows startup logo by a simple menu selection.
  7. It thus makes it easy to customise Windows by substituting
  8. company logos, funny pictures, etc., for the default VGA
  9. logo that comes with Windows itself.
  10.  
  11. INSTALLATION
  12. ------------
  13. To install WINLOGO, all you need to do is to copy the files
  14. into a directory that is in the DOS path, and then create
  15. a program manager item for WINLOGO.EXE. The files in this
  16. package are;
  17.  
  18.    [a] "WINLOGO.EXE",    the executable
  19.    [b] "WINLOGO.INI",    the INI file
  20.    [c] "WINLOGO.DOC",    the DOC file (ASCII FORMAT)
  21.    [d] "WINLOGO.HLP",    the HELP file (Windows HLP format)
  22.    [e] "FOYEH2.DLL",     library file needed by WINLOGO.EXE
  23.                          Needs to be in a directory in the "path"
  24.    [f] "REGISTER.TXT",   info about registration, and registration sites
  25.    [g] "ORDER.FRM",      a fill-in registration form
  26.    [h] "HISTORY.TXT",    the history of WINLOGO development
  27.    [i] "README.NOW",     this file
  28.    [j] "RLES.EXE",       a self-extracting compressed file
  29.        containing some sample 3rd party RLE bitmaps files. To
  30.        extract these files, just type "RLES" and press <ENTER>.
  31.        Note that you need at least 400k of free disk space for
  32.        these RLE bitmaps.

  35. After the program files are installed, you need
  36. to;
  37.   [1] Edit the file WINLOGO.INI if you have installed the
  38.       program into a directory other than C:\WINLOGO. You
  39.       need to supply the name of the WINLOGO directory on
  40.       the RLE-DIRECTORY line. This is where WINLOGO will
  41.       look for the RLE bitmaps to use. Otherwise, it will
  42.       default to your Windows System directory.

  44.  [2]  If you have a display type which is not VGA or SVGA
  45.       (or compatible), edit the VIDEO-TYPE line in the
  46.       file WINLOGO.INI to supply your video display type.
  47.       If this line is left empty, WINLOGO attempts to detect
  48.       the type of Windows Screen Driver that you have installed.
  49.       However, this auto-detection is not fool proof.
