  3.                                MULTITASKING

  5.             One  final  word.   Most  of  us sysops have only one
  6.             computer to sacrifice for the cause!  and most of  us
  7.             have  a  lot of personal work that we would also like
  8.             to so it  is  imperative  that  we  find  a  suitable
  9.             multitaksking  program to run, so that we can run the
  10.             board in the background, while  we  conduct  our  own
  11.             business in the foreground.

  13.             DESQVIEW  is such a multitasking program.  As well as
  14.             Windows.

  16.             DESQVIEW I don't know anything about, but  Windows  I
  17.             do run with my Wildcat!  When I was running on a 2400
  18.             baud  modem I had no problem multitasking.  There was
  19.             no lagging on the system, meaning both programs  were
  20.             running  at  full  speed.   But with the advent of my
  21.             14.4K modem, I needed to get a special comm driver to
  22.             compensate for the higher speed in the modem, but  so
  23.             far  it  has  not  proven  functional for me.  When I
  24.             multitask there is a lot of "jerking" motion in  both
  25.             the  background  and  foreground,  and the users were
  26.             really compalining.  So now, I have to shut the board
  27.             off when I want to use the computer, like for writing
  28.             this book.  They are beginning to complain now, about
  29.             not being able to get through  at  all.   So,  either
  30.             way,  we all lose!  I am certain though that sometime
  31.             in the near future, the situation will be  rectified,
  32.             as  I am sure I am not the only one with the problem.
  33.             I am sure that perhaps version 4.0 of Wildcat will be
  34.             totally Windows compatible!  In the meantime, I  just
  35.             have  to  type  really  fast, so I can turn the board
  36.             back on!
