  3.                         GET A NEWSLETTER GENERATOR

  6.             No  doubt  you  will  want to make use of the Wildcat
  7.             Newsletter option to  communicate  with  your  users.
  8.             There  are  several  newsletter generators out there.
  9.             Two I have used are NEWS.EXE  and  WCNEWS.EXE.   They
  10.             are both good but each have their own strong points.

  12.             NEWS.EXE, after being configured, lists your BBS name
  13.             at  the top, and then, provides date boxes which tell
  14.             the date and time the entry was  added.   These  make
  15.             good divisions from entry to entry as you scroll down
  16.             the  page.   The  latest news is always at the top of
  17.             the page.

  19.             WCNEWS  -  obviously  named  for  WILDCAT!  - gives a
  20.             two-tone blue  colored  @coded  page  effect  -  with
  21.             computer  paper  edging.   You  create  an ascii text
  22.             called WCNEWS.TXT which you can edit  with  your  own
  23.             favorite  text  editor....then you run WCNEWS.EXE and
  24.             it formats it into the  newsletter  format.   I  find
  25.             this  easier  to  use, and I can easily see what I am
  26.             adding and how long it will be.  There is  an  option
  27.             to clear the screen before each entry!

  29.             Once  you  have  the  thing  installed:  you  need to
  30.             remember to USE it to let  your  users  know  exactly
  31.             what  is  going  on  on  the board.  It can also be a
  32.             place to make other announcements and to  post  items
  33.             for  sale etc.  If properly implemented this can be a
  34.             favorite stop for users when they log on your board!

  36.             O yeah!  Take the time now and then to delete out old
  37.             entries : like I am talking YEAR OLD entries,  unless
  38.             they   are   still  valid.   There  is  nothing  more
  39.             telltaling than an abandoned,  neglected  newsletter.
  40.             It  could  say  that the Sysop and Staff don't really
  41.             care!
