  1. README.1ST ■ DataView 4.7
  2. ▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀
  3. This release is mainly a bug fix from version 4.6ß, although some new
  4. features have also been added. See WHATSNEW.DOC for information on all of
  5. the changes, additions, and new stuff. If you are installing DataView for
  6. the first time, full instructions are given in DATAVIEW.DOC.

  8. UPGRADING FROM VERSION 4.6ß
  9. ▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀
  10. If you are currently running version 4.6ß if DataView, the only thing that
  11. you need to do to upgrade is to unzip the archive DATAV47.ZIP into your
  12. \WC30\DATAVIEW\ directory, and you will be all set! You will want to
  13. overwrite all of the files in there, BUT, before you do that, read below:

  15. IMPORTANT: If you made any changes to your DVMAIN.BBS, DVSYSOP.BBS,
  16. DVTEXT.ASC, or DVTEXT.DAT files, you do NOT want to overwrite those files.

  18. NOTE: If you are running any version of DataView prior to version 4.6ß, you
  19. must delete your old copy of DataView and install from the beginning. If
  20. you a registered user of DataView, make sure that you save your
  21. DATAVIEW.KEY file before you delete anything! :)

  23. WHAT TO DO IF YOU ARE REGISTERED AND YOUR KEY DOESN'T WORK
  24. ▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀
  25. If you are a registered user of DataView, and your key file no longer
  26. works, please call Data Connection BBS (numbers listed at the end of
  27. this file) and attach your DATAVIEW.KEY file to a message to "RYAN CRAMER".
  28. I will post the new version of the key file for you right away. This should
  29. only be necessary if you are using the old key files that used to be used
  30. with DataView 3.1.

  32. WHATS COMING IN THE NEXT VERSION
  33. ▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀
  34. 1. I've got a lot of ideas for the next version. RIP support will most
  35.    definitly be added to it if that Telegrafix company will get serious
  36.    about supporting their protocol! :) Has anybody had any luck talking
  37.    to those people? If so, lemme know!

  39. 2. I am planning on adding more viewers for different types of music files
  40.    (like the MOD one listed above).
  41.  
  42. 3. A [C]onvert feature will most likely be added which will allow the user
  43.    to automatically convert the archive to another format and then
  44.    download it.
  45.  
  46. 4. The maximum read lines will be limited by security level.
  47.  
  48. 5. A [S]ort feature will be added to allow sorting the archive by date or
  49.    filesize.
  50.  
  51. 6. Probably a whole bunch of other stuff that I'm still working with right
  52.    now. :)
