SOFTWARE REQUIREMENTS:
PC/MS DOS V3.1 - 6.2
PKZIP(tm) v1.1 or v2.04g(see below) by PKWARE, INC.
VIRUSCAN(tm) 9.21v111 by McAfee Associates
(Refer to page #16 for LAN/network requirements)
**** The ZIP TERMINUS v7.6BN was designed for stand-alone or network
installation with certain considerations given to LAN/network
operation. Read the README76.TXT file or page #16 of this document
for information on network requirements, installation, etc.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
This program was designed to be a shell menu or front end
for PKZIP(tm) and VIRUSCAN(tm). Most PKZIP v1.1 and v2.04x options
are supported. One of the main objectives in creating this program
was to reduce the amount of user input required each time a file
is compressed or extracted. The ZIP TERMINUS specializes in 'FLAT
ARCHIVES'. This program in no way attempts to facilitate EVERY
archive option convention offered by PKZIP(tm).
The ZIP TERMINUS offers a modest selection of computer virus
detection options by interfacing with McAfee Associates VIRUSCAN(tm).
Virus scan is available during compress and extract operations. Also
available is a dedicated separate submenu with heads-up scan option
selection. An activity/log function is available for virus scan
functions. The user may keep track of VIRUSCAN(tm) operations,
options used, dates/times performed, etc.
***** TERM(s) USE/DEFINITION:
The following terms used in this document, program and help file:
"FLAT ARCHIVE" : refers to an archive(ZIP file) which does not
contain other archives, path or directory structure
information and/or other refinements such as the
PKZIP(tm) -& SPAN Multi-Volume option.
"M-V or MV" : refers to a Multi-Volume archive, one that spans
across disks and/or was created using the -& option
switch.
"MULTI-LEVEL" : refers to an archive which may contain other
archives (archive within an archive)
- PAGE 4 -
***** TERM(s) USE/DEFINITION: cont.
"SOURCE Dir." : When creating or adding to a Zip file the SOURCE
directory refers to where the the individual
files that will be compressed/added to the Zip file.
When extracting files contained within a Zip file
the SOURCE directory refers to the directory
location of the source Zip file.
"TARGET Dir." : The TARGET directory during compress/add to Zip
operations is the location where the created or
updated Zip file will be placed or in the case
of update is the location where a previously
created Zip file exists. During extraction this
directory refers to where the extracted files
will be placed.
***** INSTALL THE ZIP TERMINUS(c):
THE ZIP TERMINUS(c) operates most efficiently when
used in conjunction with a hard drive. Floppy installation
restricts the use of this program to just virus scan functions.
Use of a hard disk is recommended. Refer to page #16 for LAN
installation.
PKZIP(tm) files needed are : PKZIP.EXE; PKUNZIP.EXE;
ZIP2EXE.EXE; (v1.1 or v2.04g)

ZIP Terminus 7.6B checks for the PKZIP.CFG configuration file
before performing certain operations. The order of search for
PKZIP.CFG is the same that PKZIP itself will take. The current
directory at the time of compress and certain other operations is
the location of PKZIP. NOTE: Changing the PKZIP.EXE defaults may
affect the way certain Zip Terminus operations function.
***** DOS SESSION:(stand alone installation only)
Press F3 at the main menu and THE ZIP TERMINUS will suspend
operation and place you back at the DOS prompt. You may return
to The Zip Terminus by typing 'EXIT' and pressing <ENTER>. DO
NOT attempt to go back to THE ZIP TERMINUS by re-launching
ZT76B.EXE. Use the DOS 'EXIT' function.

return to The Zip Terminus via DOS EXIT function and then
press #7. QUIT to remove it from memory.
- PAGE 7 -
***** MOUSE OPERATION:
The two button Microsoft Mouse hardware specifications
are supported by this program when used in conjunction with a
color display/card that supports the color CGA C80 standard.
The program's video mode auto-detect logic disables mouse
operation if a Monochrome Display Adapter is detected. Only
keyboard entry is functional in MONOCHROME video mode(true MDA
standard). Most other Microsoft Mouse compatible mice should
function properly. The program logic checks for a 'connected'
mouse. You should not experience trouble if your mouse is
truly MS compatible, connected to the serial port or buss card,
and the mouse driver software was installed prior to running
this program.
***** DIRECTORY VIEWS:
You may view the contents of the ZIPUP SOURCE, ZIPUP
TARGET, UNZIP SOURCE and the UNZIP TARGET directories by
clicking the mouse button when the cursor is over the prompt
ALT-D on the top function bar in the right hand corner.
You may on press the ALT-D key combo to get the same results.
***** ZIPUP OPERATION: (FLAT ARCHIVES --> COMPRESS)
This version doesn't default the file list for ZIPUP
operations as '*.*'. You MUST select a single file or a
group of files for a ZIP operation. The directory for ZIPUP
SOURCE files is the directory displayed when you are
selecting a single file. If you don't tag files or forget
to specify a ZIP file name, you will be reminded of same. Use
caution. Plan your directory PATHS and ZIP options with care.
Use ALT-P to change directory locations.
Lists of files may be zipped in the following manner. Press #1
and enter a name for the ZIP file you are about to create. Then
press #2 and press enter when the file(s) you desire to add to
the ZIP file are highlighted. Press <ESC> when you are

selection. You may choose from those files with a 'ZIP' extension.
The EXTRACTED files will be placed in the UNZIP target directory.
Use ALT-P to change locations.
***** NOTE: The files within an archive file should be extracted
first and then virus scanned. Virus infections may go
undetected if you only scan the archive file itself.
It is strongly suggested that you seek experienced help
in dealing with computer virus infection.
***** INCLUDED PATH INFORMATION: (ADVANCED USER)
Archives that have included path information should be
extracted by pressing ALT-R while in the UNZIP menu. The ZIP TERMINUS
specializes in 'FLAT ARCHIVES' but does allow extraction of DIR/PATH
structure information. Set the UNZIP(extract) TARGET DIRECTORY to
the location where restoration of stored dir/path structure will
begin. If F8-VIRUS SCAN is ON, the target directory and the
subdirectories connected to that node will be virus scanned.(/SUB)
Always follow up with a manual virus scan(main menu selection #5).
Zip Terminus 7.6B allows extraction from Zips containing path\
dir.structure information with the user option of specific or wild-
card designated path/filename(s) without dir/path restoration.
If you have previously pressed ALT-R a submenu will popup before
extraction takes place.
***** RESTORE MULTI-VOLUME ZIPs: ----> ADVANCED USER!
< REQUIRES PKZIP 2.04x >
This version of The Zip Terminus allows extraction with
directory/path structure restoration of multi-volume Zips. Select
main menu #4. Then set the source and target directories by
pressing ALT-P . The target directory is where directory/path
restoration and file extraction will begin. Choose this location
wisely. The SOURCE location should be a floppy.
Next, select (#2. EXTRACT M-V ZIPs) to start restoration
of files and included directory structure information. A submenu
will next appear that will provide the user with several options.
Zip Terminus 7.6B allows extraction from MULTI-VOLUME Zips with
the user option of specific or wildcard designated path\filename(s)
without dir/path restoration.
If you have previously pressed F8-VIRUS SCAN to ON, the target
directory and the subdirectories contained in that node will be
virus scanned.(/SUB) If no directory structure information was
found within the multi-volume Zip archive, then just the files
will be extracted. Always follow up with a manual virus scan.
- PAGE 11-
***** RESTORE MULTI-VOLUME ZIPs: Cont.
Use The Zip Terminus default table(press F5-PROGRAM SETUP)
to specify treatment of hidden, read-only, or system files
and file attributes, etc. Modify the table entry named
UNZIP ARCHIVE OPTIONS. Not all PKUNZIP options may be compatible
with this type of operation.
Read the PKZIP(tm) 2 User Guide NOW! for a more detailed
description of extraction options.
***** OVERFLOW Warning:
ZT76B has a 512 file limit on ZIP file list functions.
To compress or extract more than 512 files press <SHIFT #8> for
*.* mode operation or use other wildcard combinations.
***** CREATE SELF-EXTRACTORS: (PKSFX --> MAKE EXE)
This function will process a ZIP file chosen from the
ZIPUP/UNZIP directories. The converted Zip file will be left in
the selected directory. Use ALT-P to temporarily change the
ZIPUP or UNZIP directory location if the current values are not
acceptable. Check for virus infection by first using main menu
#2. UNZIP - EXTRACT with F8-VIRUS SCAN in the ON position. Read
the PKZIP(tm) 2 User Guide for more information on PKSFX.
***** ZIP FILE COMMENTS: (-z)
There is only one type of comment operation supported in this
version of the ZIP TERMINUS. It is available in the ZIPUP, UNZIP
submenus. Press ALT-C and first select a directory and then a Zip
file to place a comment on.
***** TEST ZIPFILE(S):
This option is available by pressing <F7> on the menu
bar. Pkzip will verify files within Zips for checksum, etc. Use this
option to test Zip files after they are created (including
multi-volume ZIPs) or before they are extracted. Use this option
if you have doubts about the integrity of a ZIP file after modem
transfer, a hard disk crash, etc.
***** PASSWORD PROTECTION:(ADVANCED USER MODE)
Press <F9> to toggle password on or off. The password
protect mode garbles each individual file in the master ZIP
during the ZIPUP process.
- PAGE 12 -
The password for compress or extract operations is not the
same password that is used for program setup area access when
PROGRAM SETUP/OPT.LOCK: in the setup table is set to "ON".
PKZIP(tm) password protection is case sensitive so be aware
that upper and lower case characters like 'Y' or 'y', are considered
as being different. Choose a password of length 6 characters or more
for best protection. The Zip Terminus allows ASCII values 48..57,
65..90, 97..122, and 128..254 for password creation. ( 0..9 A..Z a..z
and the extended character set values #128..#254 )
CAUTION!: Remember your password when zipping up. It may not
be feasible to unzip files in a ZIP file that are password
protected if you don't have the right password! Write down the
password and store it in a safe place.
***** ARCHIVE ANALYSIS:
The compress, extract and make self-extractor menus each
contain a selection named 'ARCHIVE ANALYSIS'. This program
function displays information about user selected Zip files.
Archive size, date, time, total files, anticipated extract size,
date range of files within flat archives, archive type - flat or
multi-level, etc.
NOTE: Only the first level of a multi-level archive will be
analyzed. Multi-volume archives, when detected, are not
submitted to this process.
***** MEMORY AVAILABLE FUNCTION:
Memory available for SESSION launch or PKZIP(tm) operations
may be found by pressing CTRL-F key combination while in a
MENU or CHANGE DEFAULTS. This is CONVENTIONAL RAM memory NOT
FREE DISK SPACE! The number of FREE Kb displayed is the size of
the largest CONTIGUOUS conventional block available.
NOTE: ZTEC76B occupies approximately 60Kb RAM when executing
VIRUSCAN(tm), PKZIP or during DOS SESSION. ZTEC76B occupies a
total of 350Kb RAM during all other operations - not including
memory needed for execution of PKUNZIP, PKCFG.EXE, etc.
***** DELETE WITHIN ZIP:
Selective file delete WITHIN a FLAT archive. This program feature
gives the user option to remove individual files from within the master
FLAT archive.(FLAT ARCHIVES)
***** TAG FILE(s) FOR UNZIP(EXTRACT --> FLAT ARCHIVES):
Choice of which file(s) within a FLAT archive to extract. Rather
than extract every file within an archive, the user may select
individual or groups of files to extract.(FLAT ARCHIVES)
- PAGE 13 -
***** VIRUS SCAN FILES: (F8 TOGGLES ON/OFF) (KNOWN INFECTORS)
You will need to have the location of McAfee's SCAN.EXE program
clearly defined in the Default Table to utilize this function.
The virus scan function is available in the ZIPUP and UNZIP menus.
This function is turned on by pressing F8. EXE, COM and certain
other file extension types(not Zips) selected to be placed into a ZIP
file are virus scanned and the ZIPUP process will be aborted if a virus
is detected. F8 toggles state from ON to OFF. EXE/COM files that
are UNZIPPED are also scrutinized and checked for virus infection.
It is strongly suggested that a manual virus scan, main menu #5, with
memory check turned on should be used as a followup.
Be aware that the files within an an archive file should be extracted
first before checking for virus infectors. Virus scan of just a Zip
file itself may not reveal infection. It is strongly suggested that
you seek experienced help in dealing with computer virus infection.
***** VIRUS SCAN DIR/DRIVE: (CHECK FOR KNOWN VIRUS INFECTORS)
Main menu select #5 activates the virus scan submenu. This
program function facilitates virus scanning entire subdirectories or
logical drives for virus infection via interface with the McAfee
Associates program SCAN.EXE . It is suggested that you use the EXTRACT
submenu with F8-VIRUS SCAN option ON! if you wish to check ZIP files
for virus infection. /MANY is ignored during subdirectory scans. An
ACTIVITY/LOG function is available which keeps track of scan options
used, date/time of scan, whether a virus was detected, etc. Press
F5-PROGRAM SETUP and then toggle the SCAN.EXE ACTIVITY/LOG option to ON.
The ZIP Terminus does NOT directly support REMOVAL of computer
virus infections. Use of a utility such as CLEAN-up (CLEAN.EXE) by
McAfee Associates is required for removal operations. It is strongly
suggested that you seek experienced help in dealing with computer
virus infection.
***** POSSIBLE VIRUS FOUND!
A visual/audible alarm is issued when possible virus is detected.
You must enter the correct password to continue from this point. The
password required is the same password used for PROGRAM SETUP access
operations. It may be user defined by pressing F3 while in setup area.
The default password value is "PASSWORD" provided it has not been
user changed or modified.
You will have no option at this point. You must enter the correct
password to continue, then program operation will HALT with return to
DOS, Windows, etc. DO NOT RESET YOUR MACHINE BY PRESSING THE HARDWARE
RESET BUTTON. Shut your system down to prevent further spread of a
possible computer virus. Please read the documentation that came with
SCAN or CLEAN for more information on computer virus infections.
REMINDER: The ZIP TERMINUS was NOT intended to be a CLEAN-up or
computer virus DISINFECTION utility.
IT IS STRONGLY SUGGESTED THAT YOU SEEK EXPERIENCED HELP IN DEALING
WITH COMPUTER VIRUS INFECTIONS ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARE UNFAMILIAR WITH
ANTI-VIRAL SOFTWARE AND METHODS.
- PAGE 14 -
***** VIRUS CHECK - WORK PROGRAMS:
This is a limited check for known virus infectors. RAM memory
and the executables which reside in the Zip Terminus subdirectory are
checked.SCAN.EXE performs its own self-test each time it is run. Certain
other programs and/or groups are also checked for known virus infectors.
***** VIRUS DETECTION ADDENDUM:
AVOID use of The ZIP Terminus virus scan functions in an
environment or on a machine where another virus disinfector utility
is installed and running especially if the other anti-viral program
package does not encrypt, cipher, remove or otherwise hide its' own
virus search strings. This includes but is not limited to TSR virus
utilities. No claim is made herein or otherwise as to compatibility
with other author/program virus disinfector & detector utilities.
IT IS STRONGLY SUGGESTED THAT YOU SEEK EXPERIENCED HELP IN DEALING
WITH COMPUTER VIRUS INFECTIONS ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARE UNFAMILIAR WITH
ANTI-VIRAL SOFTWARE AND METHODS.
***** OPERATING FROM WINDOWS:
A Windows Icon has been provided with The Zip Terminus v7.6B. The
Zip Terminus is a DOS application and should be run as such. It is
recommended that you run this program "FULL WINDOW" . Operation from
the "DOS BOX" is possible.
***** USING ALT-P TO CHANGE DIRECTORIES:
All operation paths\directories are set to their setup table values
as specified in the ZT76B configuration table when ZT76B is first run.
Using ALT-P to change a current operation directory will not change the
program setup default values which are used as start-up definitions.
Also, changing a path while you are in the ZT76B configuration setup
table submenu WILL NOT change the CURRENT PATH value.
Version 7.6B of Zip Terminus allows UNDEFINED! as the default value for
compress/extract source/target directories. Leaving these setup table
entries as "UNDEFNIED!" will allow the user to define same using the
ALT-P combo found in each submenu and to do so on an as needed basis
each time the program is run.
***** SCREEN SAVER :
The screen saver is a program integrated function which
blanks your computer screen after a pre-determined period of
keyboard or mouse inactivity. The screen saver is turned on
from the Default Table(press F5). Users may enter from 1 to
60 minutes of *approximate* delay time before the screen saver
becomes active. This program feature will help to prevent screen
burn due to prolonged static display. The screen saver responds
to keypress AND mouse clicks.

- PAGE 16 -
***** NETWORK INSTALLATION/USE, etc:
The Zip Terminus v7.6BN is a general network compatible program.
MS-DOS v3.1 or higher + share.exe or MS-DOS compatible equivalents
are required. Your LAN software must be compatible with the DOS
network services. Note that not all modes and types of installation
may work on certain LAN implementations. Also, be sure to first refer
to the McAfee program VIRUSCAN(tm) documentation for the LAN
compatiblity of SCAN.EXE and the PKZIP(tm) documentation for LAN
compatibility of PKZIP.EXE and its accompanying executables . For an
updated list of tested types(Zip Terminus), call:
STC BBS at 908-206-1386 MODEM ACCESS ONLY {2400 - 14.4Kb N 8 1}
** INSTALLING ZIP TERMINUS (NETWORK):
The Zip Terminus needs to know where the executables reside for
configuration purposes, etc. The Zip Terminus uses a dynamic
configuration table if LAN operation is detected. Table entries
1..3,13 are adjusted, if necessary, for each workstation running
the program before the main menu appears. These adjustments made at
one workstation do not affect other workstations. Only one zt76B.cfg
file is required. This mode of operation will be adhered to whether
installation is made on a network or local drive so long as
network operation is detected.
NOTE: The location of ALL executables including + Viruscan(tm) log
MUST be the same network volume\directory or workstation
volume\directory as The Zip Terminus.
NOTE: The Viruscan(tm) activity log/report will be created and updated
in the directory where The Zip Terminus executables reside.
If The Zip Terminus executables reside on a workstation local
volume\directory instead of a network drive, the log will be
created/updated on that workstation local install drive and
directory. Therefore, if a centralized activity report log is
of paramount importance for your LAN implementation, you should
attempt to install the Zip Terminus on a network or server
volume/directory. This may not be possible on certain LANs.
The following minimum considerations should be given when installing
The Zip Terminus on a Local Area Network: (most of the following
concerns itself with concurrent multi-user operation)
* 1. Install directory must include READ/WRITE access. The Zip *
Terminus may need to create to several unique named temporary
files which are used for each instance of concurrent operation.
All files are deleted upon program exit.
* 2. Open/Run Zip Terminus from DOS v3.1 or higher Workstation *
* 3. SHARE.EXE or a compatible equivalent must be active *
- PAGE 17 -
***** NETWORK INSTALLATION/USE, etc: cont.
* 4. A temporary Viruscan(tm) activity/history log file is created *
for each instance of network operation. All temporary log files
are appended to the master report log named RPT_ZT.TXT when each
instance of operation is terminated. The machine or user name,
is added to the master log file.
* 5. Use the /TAO startup option combo to check workstation memory *
force option lock and virus scan activity log ON. This may be
done from the command line, Terminus startup batch file or the
STCZTEC environment variable. This may be necessary on certain
LAN setups.
* 6. You MUST install the Zip Terminus in the same directory *
as scan.exe and the pkzip program group. If The Zip Terminus
detects network or remote operation installation/use it will
insist that all executables be placed in the Terminus directory.
* 7. The Zip Terminus zt76B.cfg file is created by, not supplied *
with, this program package. Therefore, if you wish to change
the password etc. you must first press F5-PROGRAM SETUP and
then exit the setup area by pressing <ESC>. This will save
or create the file zt76B.cfg to the Terminus directory.
* 8. It may be desirable or * necessary * on certain LAN systems *
to set the DOS file attribute for each of the following files
to Read-Only: scan.exe ; pkzip.exe, pkunzip.exe, zip2exe.exe,
zt76B.exe ; ztcf76.exe
These files should be made shareable. The master report file
named RPT_ZT.TXT and ZT76B.CFG which will be created by the Zip
Terminus should also be made shareable. Make ZT76B.CFG read-
only after you are finished configuring. Do not make RPT_ZT.TXT
read-only.
* 9. Files which VIRUSCAN(tm) reports either by screen message or *
in the activity log as:
" Sorry, I cannot open ..." { filename.ext }
should be re-scanned at a later time. Note that some files may
be temporary data constructs opened with DENY_ALL access. These
files may not be present later on since their parent application
will have deleted them upon exit, etc.
- PAGE 18 -
***** NETWORK INSTALLATION/USE, etc: cont.
* 10. The program setup entry "ALL MENUS-LOCAL+NETWORK" should be set
to "OFF" when multiple workstation use is expected. If you are
a Systems Administrator and need to perform certain operations
on network drives, install The ZIP Terminus in a separate
directory on the server and restrict rights to same. There you
will be able to custom configure The ZIP Terminus for your
needs while not affecting the operation of workstation users.
* 11. This version of the Zip Terminus does not require the user to *
enter values for the source\target compress/extract directories
in the setup table. Leave these entries "UNDEFINED!". Each user
may then adjust the values for source/target paths using the
ALT-P key combination as needed.
* 12. The virus scan activity log for each instance of concurrent *
or consecutive operation is a temporary file which is appended
to the master log file RPT_ZT.TXT when the user exits the Zip
Terminus. The DOS reported network machine name is added to
the beginning of the appended report for identification
purposes. The machine name, under certain LAN implementations,
may be the current logged user instead.
As a review there are several methods available which may be used
to force Systems Administrator setup and which deny individual
workstation users access to edit/change the configuration table
values which may affect other users:
1. The lock may be set from the program setup area. Set "SETUP
OPTION LOCK:" to ON.
2. Use the /O startup option on the command line or as a value
assigned to the STCVTEC environment variable.
3. First configure The Zip Terminus. Exit the program. Then set
the file attribute of vt55a.cfg to READ-ONLY and make it
shareable.
Although the ZIP Terminus v7.6BN is generally LAN compatible, no
specific claim is made as to compatibility with any network system.
Use of The ZIP Terminus on local or networked drives should be subject
to System Administrator/Supervisor installation, testing and approval.
***** PROGRAM SETUP AREA PASSWORD PROTECTION:
Press F5-PROGRAM SETUP while in the main menu. Then press F3 to
define your choice of password. Before leaving the program setup
area, set the SETUP OPTIONS LOCK: to ON. The default value
for password is "PASSWORD" when starting the program for the
first time and/or until user has pressed F3 to change the value.
The Zip Terminus allows ASCII values 48..57, 65..90, 97..122, and
128..254 for password creation.( 0..9 A..Z a..z and the extended
character set values #128..#254 )

********** TROUBLESHOOTING **********
SOURCE! FROM PREVIOUS MULTI-VOLUME!
TARGET DISK LABEL --> MULTI-VOLUME!
TARGET! FROM PREVIOUS MULTI-VOLUME!
The Zip Terminus tries not to allow the mixing of FLAT archives
with those that were created with the -& multi-volume option. Also,
updating an existing multi-volume archive by using compress submenu
option #3.Create/Add to Zip is not allowed. PKZIP(tm) labels each
disk of a M-V backup set with PKBACK#. Other checks are also made
against the actual Zip file to confirm multi-volume status.
ONLY ACTIVE IN ADVANCED USER MODE
Press F5-PROGRAM SETUP and set the ADVANCED USER MODE to ON if
you are capable of using a locked program function. The functions
protected by this locking should be used by advanced users only!
FAILED! - COMMAND LINE TOO LONG...
The Zip Terminus checks the length of the command line that will
be sent to PKZIP, PKUNZIP, VIRUSCAN, etc. One common cause of this
problem is using operation directory/path assignments that are too
long and when combined together with other options from the default
table push the length of the command line over the acceptable DOS
limit.
UNABLE TO INSPECT WITHIN ARCHIVE !!
You may be attempting to tag or delete within an archive which
has included directory/path information or which was created with
the -& multi-volume option. The Zip Terminus supports operations
of this type only on FLAT ARCHIVES. Also, the ZIP file may be locked
by another application.

menu program. To obtain full access to every supported function
you must have the required programs. You must also press the key
F5-PROGRAM SETUP and define the location of each required program.
Failure to do so will usually result in this type of message.
PKZIP HELP SCREEN DISPLAYED:
1. You have not supplied options or the options you have given
are either incorrect or conflict in some way. Not all options
may may be combined on the same command line. The Zip Terminus
combines options in the default table with the appropriate -&
selected options when attempting to request PKZIP to compress a
multi-volume Zip. Press F5-PROGRAM SETUP and modify if necessary.
2. You are attempting to use PKZIP 2.04c or an earlier version of
PKZIP 2 that does not support the options you have specified.
Press F5-PROGRAM SETUP and modify if necessary. Create/Restore
multi-volume ZIPs are not supported by PKZIP v1.1 .
3. You have requested DOS verify during a multi-volume compress
operation. The -&v, -&fv etc. combinations are compatible with
PKZIP v2.04e or later, not PKZIP v2.04c or earlier. Check
the Zip Terminus default table entry for compress and extract
options to make sure there are no conflicts.(F5-PROGRAM SETUP)
4. Check your PKZIP configuration table. Run the program PKCFG.EXE
and make sure the command line conflicts are not originating
there. Observe the optionchar and listchar entries closely.
5. A good place to start - read your PKZIP(tm) 2 User Guide and Tutorial.

***** UPDATE INFORMATION VERSION 7.6B *****
(Read the file README76.TXT for further update info.)
1. Tested ZTEC76B for VIRUSCAN(tm) 9.21v111 Note that 460Kb free
contiguous conventional RAM is required at startup.
2. Modified the The Zip Terminus virus scan option selection table
in the "VIRUS SCAN DIR/DRIVE" submenu. The available user selected
options for memory check have been separated and now include:
C. CHECK MEMORY FOR CRITICAL & STEALTH ..... [ ]
D. CHECK MEMORY FOR * ALL * KNOWN VIRUSES .. [ ]
NOTE: Selection #D sends VIRUSCAN(tm) the /M option which instructs
scan.exe to check for ALL known viruses which may inhabit memory.
Turning option selection #D to ON is not recommended if the user
also runs or makes use of another anti-viral program package which
does not remove, cipher, hide or otherwise encrypt its own virus
search strings in memory. Read the VIRUSCAN(tm) documentation for
more information concerning the SCAN/CLEAN /M option.
NOTE: The Zip Terminus v7.6BN by default does not send the /M option to
scan.exe for virus checks performed during extraction or compression.
The user may add a /M, if appropriate(refer to above), to the Zip
Terminus configuration table entry #8 if so desired.
- PAGE 23 -
***** UPDATE INFORMATION VERSION 7.6BN cont. *****
3. It is now possible to run scan.exe in strict default mode during virus
checks made in extraction or compression operations. The user may
enter "NONE" for the ZIPUP/UNZIP VSCAN OPTS configuration table entry
if so desired. Note that a minimum of /A is recommended here when
extracting archives of unknown content, installing software, or if a
file-infecting virus has been found. Other options may also apply.
Read the VIRUSCAN(tm) documentation for a complete list of scan.exe
options.
The first time startup values for the ZIPUP/UNZIP VSCAN OPTS table
entry are /A /CHKHI. If you are using an XT machine memory may be
scanned twice because of the CHKHI switch. Please refer to the
VIRUSCAN(tm) documentation for a description of /A and /CHKHI
4. NOTE: You must first toggle F8-VIRUS SCAN to 'ON' before virus
checking will take place during extraction or compression.
VIRUSCAN(tm) by McAfee Associates is required.
5. Added "REDUCTION RATIO" to archive analysis display.
