********** PocketD Plus v4.0 - New features since v1.67 ***********
PocketD has now been around since 1992 (v1.34-v4.0). I listen hard
to requests, and have successively produced new versions to
incorporate most of the features that users wanted, and much more.
This new version has been released earlier than planned to provide the
frequently requested feature for viewing the contents of files inside
archives. This new enhancement is so useful that it alone would
probably have justified the new release.
>>>>> The key improvements between v1.67-v3.0
1. Greatly improved ease-of-use, through the new program MenuD
2. Full screen directory and archive browsing
3. SFX scanning
4. Improved support of other products (4DOS, Novell, LANtastic, OS/2)
5. Improved and completely re-worked documentation
6. Security. PocketD v3.X protects itself against Virus Attack
7. Full scrolling execution templates
8. Dedicated colour configuration through SETCOL
>>>>> NEW WITH VERSION 3.1 Oct93
Support added for COMPACK v4.5 compression (shareware version is
now also compressed using it).
Copy option "b" now less zealous. Under some circumstances
re-named filenames were reported as "empty" names.
Extra protection within MenuD to prevent inappropriate options
from being mixed (for delete, view and copy).
Copy now reports "skipped" in response to user skip.
Corrections to errors in documentation for v3.0.
Template $B "backspace" now accepts "n". e.g. $5B "5" backspaces.
Additional options for registration in Canada.

4DOS, OS/2 and string-search bug fixes. A serious flaw was
introduced with v3.1 which caused problems with OS/2 and
4DOS. Searching for strings in files also had a problem.
Browsing is now extended to allow viewing of contents of files
within archives. These feature is transparent, so unless you
pay close attention you might not even notice whether a file
being viewed is from inside or outside of an archive! The
feature makes the ARCVIEW.BAT script provided with v3.1
redundant. This extended feature requires the use of PKUNZIP,
ZOO, LHA, ARJ etc. (not needed for browsing names inside
archives).
Browse options also include UNCOMPRESS any archived file or whole
archive and COPY any file. This can also be modified by the
new option /.z which allows the user to treat all files as
potential ZIP archives.
Browsing now also has a true "user-defined" option that allows a
command to be added to the browser. Previously the user only
had the option to simply replace D.EXE's internal viewer by
Vernon Buerg's list program (or other viewer). This facility
is now largely redundant as D.EXE's new viewer is very
capable. The option to use LIST is still there, but is
overridden by the user command set up by the variable D_LIS.
The user can now use all the previous commands with their own
custom option for an editor, archiver or whatever command
required.
/Z has been extended to allow D.EXE to treat any file as a
specific archive type. e.g. some sources may distribute ARJ
or ZIP files as FILECHKD.001, FILECHKD.002 etc.
Template is enhanced by $x,y option to set screen coordinates, $K
files copied, $%X variable formating.
Copying under networks has been greatly improved to allow timeouts
on files that cannot be opened. Also improved error trapping
avoids the few instances when D.EXE could fail when trying to
read a file while another user attempts to modify or delete
it. Files that have been deleted during a cyclic copy are now
abandoned rather than waited for. These enhancements
significantly improve D.EXE usefulness as a network backup
tool.
D.EXE now has its own critical error and break handlers so that
the user has more than one method for breaking out of the
program. It is also less vulnerable to network errors
(above). D.EXE will return errorlevel 0 when a critical error
causes a copy to be abandonned.
File viewing now supports unix-type text files.
>>>>> NEW WITH 2ND RELEASE VERSION 4.0 Mar94
Bug fix with virus detection in MENUD failing to find D.EXE (only
in shareware version)
