MESSAGE COUNT 1.31
A product of the MORONIHAH BBS
MESSAGE COUNT (C) 1994 by Bradley W. Hodges
DISCLAIMER:
Thank you for taking the time to download and try MESSAGE COUNT.
A lot of hard work went in to this project, and although it may not
seem much, it is a major accomplishment for me. Before going any further
I would like to make clear some legal stuff.
I, Bradley W. Hodges, the author of this product shall and in
no way be held liable for any damage that may occur to your
computer system, disk, printer, or any other product that this
software may run on. IT IS RUN AT YOUR OWN RISK. By running this
software you agree to accept this responsibility, and any other
responsibilities forthcoming.
MESSAGE COUNT is copyrighted and may not, under any circumstance be
tampered with, back engineered, or otherwise altered. This documentation
is also copyrighted and may not be altered in anyway. You are free however
to print a copy of all documentation for your personal use only.
INTRODUCTION:
MESSAGE COUNT simply will read you Callers.Log and create a bulletin
listing the top ten message writers. Unlike other message count programs,
MESSAGE COUNT will also count messages upload to a QWK door like JETMAIL(tm).
You can use MESSAGE COUNT as an event daily, weekly, monthly, or to your
liking. The only requirment is that MESSAGE COUNT be in the same directory
as the Callers.Log you want it to read. Since MESSAGE COUNT reads the
Callers.Log and not the SFUSERS.DAT to get message totals you can keep track
of the amount of messages written by month, week, day, or to your liking.
You are free to use this program for a trial period of 10
days. After the trial period you must either register MESSAGE COUNT or
discontinue use. I would encourage you to support Shareware/Freeware
concept by registering all the Shareware you use.
SETUP:
When you receive MESSAGE COUNT you should have the following files:
MC3.EXE Main program
MC.DOC This documentation
REGISTER.FRM Registration documentation
MORONIHA.ADS Moronihah BBS promotion
FILE_ID.DIZ File Description file
REPORT.BUG Bug report on MESSAGE COUNT
VERSION.HIS Version History Report
If any of these files are missing, please call the MORONIHAH
BBS at (205) 238-1246 obtain complete package. If your a member of FIDO
you may FREQ the latest copy with the magic name MESSAGE from 1:3657/5.
After you have verified that you have a complete MESSAGE COUNT file
package you are ready to begin. Complete the following steps:
STEP 1:
To set up MESSAGE COUNT place it in your SF\WORK directory or where
ever your Callers.log is at.
STEP 2:
Create a configuration file call MC.CFG. The configuiration file must
contain the following information this this order: Sysop name, BBS name,
registration number, drive, path, and file to create. For example:
---------------------------sample config file--------------------------------
Bradley W. Hodges
The MORONIHAH BBS
000000000
C:\SF\DISPLAY\BULLET2
---------------------------sample config file--------------------------------
MESSAGE COUNT will automatically add the extension of .BBS, .CLR and RIP
to the file that it creates.
STEP 3:
Start MESSAGE COUNT at the DOS Prompt by simply typing:
MC13
--or--
From a batch file call MESSAGE COUNT like so:
@ECHO OFF
C:
CD\SF\WORK
MC13
CD\SF
THAT'S IT! Real easy I hope.
MESSAGE COUNT will then begin to read your Callers.log and sort
each caller by the amount of messages written. It will create the
file/bulletin of your choice.
Since some Callers.log are quite large it may take MESSAGE COUNT
a few seconds to work. The larger the Callers.Log the longer it will
take. MESSAGE COUNT will show you what it doing as it is working.
BUGS & SUGGESTIONS:
If you find a BUG please fill out the BUG REPORT (REPORT.BUG) and
upload it to the AUTHOR on the MORONIHAH BBS at (205) 238-1246.
You may also send the BUG REPORT through Circuit NET in a Routed,
Private message at node number 205003, or through FIDO @1:3657/5.
Please address all message to Brad Hodges.
If you have a suggestion on how to improve MESSAGE COUNT fill free
to drop the AUTHOR a message with the suggestion. ANY AND ALL
SUGGESTION ARE WELCOMED!
FINAL THOUGHTS:
I'd like to thank all of those who are so willing to help me
out with this project. Especially of note is my wonderful wife of
16 years, Mary. Without her support this project would not of been
possible. Look for more products coming from the MORONIHAH BBS.
Currently I am working on a number of different projects to help make
Sysoping for the SpitFire Sysop easy and enjoyable.
Currently I am seeking only $5.00 for this program. That is
right...just $5.00 bucks!
