  2. WARNING: This BBS software is for experimental use ONLY. You may use it and
  3. distribute it, at  your  own risk!   This software comes with NO guarantees
  4. whatsoever. It is up to YOU to keep your system running the latest version.
  5. If you fall behind  in updates, you  may end  up getting  stuck  without  a
  6. conversion to the next upgrade!   If you cannot deal with this, do not like
  7. the idea  of experimental software,  or cannot  deal with  bugs of whatever
  8. size, please do NOT run this software.

  12. Notes on 12-25-93 and later:

  14.      Delete user.idx

  16.      Set your Network QWK ACS in Offline config to % if you don't
  17.      know that you need it otherwise.

  19.      Check your credit system configuration and make sure people
  20.      can logon your system (set them all to zero if you don't
  21.      know you need them on).

  26.      Renegade needs an 80186 or better processor. If you are using an
  27.      8088 or 8086, you can replace your  processor with an NEC V20 or
  28.      V30 processor respectively, for as little as $5.You will then be
  29.      able to run most 286 applications.

  44.    The new multiple subscription (validation) levels REQUIRE that you
  45.    go configure them!  Level A, if you'll notice, is your NEW USER
  46.    level. Set it up accordingly.  Config option "G".

  53.         I KNOW THERE ARE BUGS in the FILE RATIOS.  There is plenty
  54.     of extended logging info now, USE IT and report the bugs!

  57. Upgrading to 11-29-92:

  59.   The transfer windows DO NOT WORK!  Please do not report it as a bug.

  61.   Hit CTRL-HOME for help on the new sysop keys.

  63.   The pipe system has changed from a variable 1-3 digit system to the
  64.   following 2 digit system:

  66.   00-15  Set foreground colors.
  67.   16-23  Set background colors.

  69.   They are set indepently.

  72.   Delete EVENTS.DAT.  You'll have to redo your events.

  75.   Rename *.MSG to *.ASC. and go through your message bases checking the
  76. status of the private flag.  You may not want it, and it defaults to
  77. ON in most cases. See Whatdone #421 for more information.

  81. Run RGUPDATE included with this package to update from 7-9-92 to 8-10-92.
  82. Your user file formats have been changed. Many old utilities will not work.

  84. WARNING: Make sure you are using a version of Renemail later than 7-9-92!

  87. You'll need to reconfigure ALL your echomail bases' addresses if updating
  88. from 6-27 or earlier to 7-08 or later!!    Go to Network configuration
  89. first and define your AKAs.   You *MUST* use Renemail 7-08-92 or later
  90. with this version!!

  92. If you are updating from something older than 4-15 beta, load up each
  93. node you run and configure your modem!   Your modem configs were lost!
  94.  
  95. Copy MENUCMD.MSG to your MISC directory; it provides online help
  96. for menu commands when editing menus!
  97.  
  98. Copy NODECHAT.MSG to your MISC directory for multinode chat help.

  100. Upgrading from older versions of Renegade beta:
  101.  
  102.   1) Anyone upgrading from anything up to 6-27-92 should run RGMFIX,
  103.      which fixes a slight bug in the message storage system.  It
  104.      will do no damage if run on a later version.
  105.  
  106.   2) If you are updating from something dated before 6-12-92, you must
  107.      get and run RGUPDATE to convert your message bases to the slightly
  108.      newer format to support internal netmail.  You must also obtain a new
  109.      RENEMAIL as stated above.

  111.   3) If your message base AREAS are messed up, rename your MBASES.DAT file
  112.      to BOARDS.DAT, obtain a new copy of and run TG25RG10, and answer "YES"
  113.      only to the SECOND question - it refers to "Message base listing"
  114.      conversion.

  116.   4) If you are upgrading from a version with an EXE file dated 03-12-92
  117.      12:50pm or EARLIER,  You must contact the author directly for an
  118.      appropriate conversion program!

  121. To convert from Telegard 2.7 to Renegade Alpha:

  123.   1)  Install Renegade
  124.  
  125.   2)  Get Josh Lippy's TG2RG103 program and read it's documentation.

  127.   4)  READ WHATDONE COMPLETELY!  It describes ALL CHANGES and NEW COMMANDS.
  128.       If you don't read it, you won't know what command keys to change!
