  1. XLIB is a library of procedures which
  2. can greatly simplify protected mode
  3. programming under DOS. XLIB provides
  4. the simplest and most reliable method
  5. for accessing extended memory from real
  6. mode languages. A tutorial on protected
  7. mode is included. XLIB procedures handle
  8. mode switching, extended memory,
  9. memory-mapped IO, interrupts, and files.
  10. Version 4.0 also handles CPU exceptions,
  11. and performs debugging functions.  
  12. XLIB operates under DPMI, VCPI, XMS and 
  13. clean configurations. Both Microsoft
  14. and Borland formats are included.
