Documentation for hdcp2.Exe - 1993(C), EJM Enterprises-
PURPOSE:
I wrote this handicap program in order to have an up to date handicap
for myself. As a member of the USGA for many years I had my handicap
maintained at my local golf course. After moving to the east coast I no
longer had a way to keep track of my handicap. I wrote this program to keep
my handicap current after each round of play.
REQUIREMENTS:
A PC compatible computer running MS-DOS 3.0 or later operating system.
256k of free memory and an EGA monitor or better is required.
The program may be run on either a floppy or harddrive.
INSTALLATION:
Installation on a hard drive:
Make a directory and copy all files from floppy to new directory.
e.g. C:\GOLF>copy a:*.*
C:\GOLF>hdcp2 <cr> to run program
All data files will be put in current directory.
Installation on Floppy drive:
There is no installation required here just log to drive A or B
then type hdcp2 at the command line prompt.
Two sample data files have been included. They are murf.dat and
murphy.dat. To view them use option 2 or they may be deleted as
desired.
OPERATION:
After typing "hdcp2" on command line, program will load and display the
main menu.
Menu Item #1- "New Player". Selection of this item will ask you
to enter the last name of a new golfer. You may use any name you like, but
try not to use the same name as a player already entered. The program creates
a file on the disk with the extension '.dat' and the first eight letters of
the name entered. If you use the name of an existing player the new player
will overwrite the existing players record.
After entering the name you want to use, the program will ask if you want
to enter new scores?. Pressing 'y or Y' will bring up a series of questions
to enter the Score, Course Rating and the Date. Answer these questions in the
format prompted for. It is assumed that adjustments will have been made to the
scores for excessive single hole scores. After score or scores have been
entered, entering 'n or N' will return you to the main menu.
Menu Item #2- "Enter Existing Players Name." Selection will allow you to
choose a name from the existing users on the disk and either add more scores
to your record or change any errors you may have made in previous entries.
Menu Item #3- "Dos Shell" Selection invokes the Dos Command Prompt so you
make perform any dos functions without having to exit the main program.
Menu Item #4- "Print out Score Card." Selection will allow you to make a
hard copy of your scores and handicap. To you this option press 4 then select
the name of a user and a copy will be printed.
Menu Item #0- "Quit Program" Leave the golf handicap program.
