■ Documentation for the Welcome PPE ■ Compiled on 11-12-93 by PPLC 2.0 ■
───────────────────────────────── ────────────────────────────────
The only thing you need to do.. is delete everything form your WELCOME
file, and add this to the welcome file:
!D:\PCB\WELCOME\WELCOME.PPE
Mind you, the drive and path resemble an example statement, however
use it to your end. Make sure all the files are in the SAME directory!
This PPE is color aware, so if someone is logging in under RIP, ANSI,
or NONE, the same apply to the files here..
WELCOME.0 - No ansi
WELCOMEG.0 - Graphics
WELCOMER.0 - RIP
However, I just have graphics and name it as WELCOME.0, for quicker
maintenance if I need to change the welcoming screen. But, thats
also what this program does! You can have 100 welcome screens, or
2 welcome screens. How? In the WELCOME.CNF file, there is only
one line you need to manage.. the first line. This is the line
which will tell welcome how many WELCOME.# screens you have.
So say, if you put the number '2' in the CNF file, Welcome will
think there are THREE welcome files to show, RANDOMLY. So, if you
put in '5' in the CNF file, welcome will think there are SIX welcome
files to show, randomly.
Make sure though, that when you state there are '5' in the CNF file,
that you have 6 files already setup, exactly named as this:
WELCOME.0
WELCOME.1
WELCOME.2
WELCOME.3
WELCOME.4
WELCOME.5
Which means, the EXTentions run incrementally from '0' to whatever you
have stated in the CNF file. Small code, but gives your users something
differnet, so they dont get 'bored'.
