  1. [911] PCBForum v.94c Sample Menu Set.

  4. Hi, this is Straight Jacket (Creator of PCBForum) - I can see that you have 
  5. decided so far to take a look at making a menu set for the next version 
  6. of PCBForum - version 94c.  
  7.  
  8. Well I would first off like to thank you for your interest and I'll just 
  9. explain a few things that you should know when making the menu set and what to 
  10. do when finished.

  12. WHAT THE HELL IS PCBFORUM?
  13. --------------------------

  15. Well I've been running PCBoard for a while and I've noticed that every ELITE
  16. board has tried to make their board look as if it was a FORUM board.  But the
  17. thing is you just can't fake it with PCBoard because everything is done from
  18. the main menu.  
  19.  
  20. So when the PPL (PCBoard Programming Language) came about I started work 
  21. on PCBForum.  So if you are running PCBoard right now -- YOU don't have to fake
  22. it anymore - Your board can look like a FORUM!  Easy to install there is only 
  23. one PPE!  Unlike some try hard FORUM/PCBOARD combos this is all done with one 
  24. PPE.  It has rumours, bbs list, seperate message/xfers menu etc. and most of 
  25. it, if not all of the commands are similar to those of FORUM commands.

  28. Simple Instructions

  31. 1)    I would appreciate it if you would save all the menus using the PCBoard
  32.     @X codes.  This is simple to do.  - IF you can't grasp this just save
  33.     them as .ans files! :)  There may be a few exceptions with the file 
  34.     stats and message stats - Even I had to use ANSI there!  
  35.     
  36.     - 1st block your menu and then press ALT S and then instead of pressing
  37.     [A] for ANSI save press [@] for @X save and then select PCBOARD and then
  38.     you can do the rest from there. (lots of and thens eh?)

  40. 2)    If you are editing the PCBFORUM.PCB (where all the text is stored) and
  41.     wish to make what i call tacky prompts (more than one line prompt) 
  42.     you may do this by making an external file.  Just replace the line 
  43.     where the default text prompt was with the name of the file for the
  44.     external prompt.

  46.     For example - lets say you wanted to make a two - three line main menu 
  47.     prompt.  You would make your prompt and save it as mainp.pcb. - you 
  48.     would then erase the text line that had the default main menu prompt 
  49.     and just place the mainp.pcb - Now lets take a closer look -->

  51.     e.g.

  53.     Default prompt was :
  54.     @X09[Main Menu@X09] Command:

  56.     Replace this with:
  57.     mainp.pcb
  58.  
  59.     NOTE: You may do this with the all the prompts!

  61. 3)    I would like to release PCBForum v.94c on APRIL 1 so the quicker you 
  62.     can get these to me there better.  Once again I sincerly appreciate it.

  64. 4)    ZIP all the NEW menus up when you are done.  If you want you could 
  65.     include a info file - maybe a BBS ad or something you would like to 
  66.     say about your menu sets.
