BETA VER 1.64b
This program is in its beta testing stage. You are asked to test and
evaluate it. Comments, criticisms, and suggestions are welcomed and
encouraged. You may contact me on Salt Air BBS (801)-261-8976 or on
my own BBS, Main Street (803)-538-4084. NOTE: My system does use a
callback verification process due to some problem local users. Thanks
for helping with the beta testing of On-Sale.

DISCLAIMER:
Users of ON-SALE must accept this disclaimer of warranty:
"ON-SALE is provided as is. The author disclaims all warranties,
expressed or implied, including, without limitation, the warranties
of merchantability and of fitness for any purpose. The author assumes
no liability for damages, direct or consequential, which may result
from the use of ON-SALE."
INTRODUCTION TO ON-SALE:
ON-SALE is a PPE designed to allow your users to browse an on-line
shopping list, check out any sales or special events, enter and read
classifieds, and place orders for merchandise. The program makes use
of a number of external files to allow it to be customized in order to
fit your needs.
INSTALLATION OF ON-SALE:
ON-SALE should be installed through PCBSETUP under FILE LOCATIONS,
CONFIGURATION FILES, as an additional command in the default CMD.LST
file. For ease of use, I have named the command ONSALE on my system.
ONSALE was designed so each external file that it needs will be called
from the same directory in which the PPE resides as well as have the
same name as the PPE. (Ie. If you change the name of ONSALE.PPE to
SALES.PPE, you will need to change the external files to SALES.ext)
ON-SALE does not require any effort on the part of the SysOp except
that of creating the lists that will be read and displayed to your
users. There is no event maintanence and ON-SALE was designed to
clean-up after itself and delete any temporary files it creates.
ON-SALE's EXTERNAL FILES:
ONSALE.OSL - The On-line Shopping List - Any text editor can be used
to create this file. I used PCBDRAW and designed a file with @X
color control codes. This file will list what you have for sale,
descriptions, prices, or any other information you might want to
list. IT MUST EXIST! There is no real need to use this PPE if you
do not create this file.
ONSALE.SPC - Sales and Special Events - Another text file used to
display sale items or special events to your users. Perhaps you
purchased ten high speed modems at a special price and are passing
some savings on to your users. Put the information in this file.
Like the other files, it supports @X color codes.
ONSALE.CUS - Customer Order Message - This file will display a
message to your customers before they enter their orders. Orders
are saved as private messages to the SysOp.
ONSALE.THK - Customer Thank-You - This message is displayed after
the customer has made an order.
ONSALE.CFG - ON-SALE's configuration - Another MUST-HAVE file if
you want the program to display your board name, your name, and
put classified ads in any conference other than the main board. If
not, it will default to my name and my board's name as well as put
every classified ad in the main conference.
CONCLUSION:
I have tested every aspect of ON-SALE; however, I know that it is not
complete. I am hoping to continue to work with the PPE and over time
build a program that is highly configurable, with increased ease of
use. I want to improve the classified and order commands from what
they currently are. (I think those of you that use the program will
agree.)
I do not have any plans to release this program as shareware (I don't
plan on charging for it!) nor am I currently willing to release the
source code. Sorry, but I want the program developed first. I would
prefer to show of the power of PCBoard's PPLC.
If you have any questions or suggestions that would improve this code
and make it better for the BBS community as a whole, I wish that you
would share them with me. I know the program is in a raw stage and
I am very eager to improve on it. You may contact me on either of
the BBSs listed on the first page of this document.
Thanks for taking the time to try this program out.
