  7. People fuck around. It's only natural that some will try to hack your
  8. system- either seriously or just to see if they can. The problem is: who
  9. are these people? How can you tell somone is inclined to do such a thing?

  11. Why, use BADBOY.ppe and find out :)

  13. Fuck-ups are both bold and stupid. Most will attempt to try something
  14. even if they know they can't or will get caught. They can't help it.

  16. BADBOY.ppe lets you "test" your users. You give them a chance to screw-up
  17. and see their reaction.

  19. It is a simple PPE 'cause I barely know what I'm doing. But it does the
  20. job.

  22. What you do is assign a "test" command (say "9" for Drop to DOS) or a
  23. door name (such as CHANGE PROTOCOL TO LEECH ZMODEM-DO NOT USE!) to your
  24. CMDLIST or DOOR.LST using PCBSETUP. If the screw-up attempts to access
  25. this command or door, their security is reduced, they have to write you a
  26. message why they did what they did, and they are logged off.

  28. An interesting point which seems to be true (I don't know why) is that if
  29. you assign BADBOY.ppe to a sysop command- such as "9"- the PPE OVER-RIDES
  30. the access level for that command you have set in your PCBSETUP. So even
  31. if you have "9" as a level 110 command, anyone can access it via this
  32. PPE.  You can, of course, change the security level in the DOOR.LST or
  33. CMDLIST but that sorta defeats the purpose, doesn't it?

  35. Some- such as you, the sysop- should have access to the command without
  36. the restrictions the PPE imposes. You do. The security level(s) affected
  37. by this PPE is set in the PPS itself.
