MIGRATING TO A NEW VERSION OF HAZEL (Registered users only)
Your registration diskette is required to transfer your registration to new
versions of Hazel. Note that in general registered users may transfer
registration to versions of Hazel with the same major revision number
(1.1, 1.2, etc.). The file formats for both HAZEL.INI and Hazel address
book files has changed in v1.2. A conversion program "11TO12.EXE" is
available for the use of registered users.
To transfer registration and migrate to a new version of Hazel:
1) Use CD to change to the directory where the new version of Hazel
resides or will reside. Use your UNZIP or PKUNZIP program to (if
you have not already done so) to unzip the new version of Hazel.
2) Copy your data files and HAZEL.INI file from the directory where the
old version of Hazel resides to the current directory.
3) Place your registration diskette in drive A: or B: as appropriate.
3) Copy the registration transfer program to the current directory.
The registration transfer program is called "REGISTER.EXE" and
resides in the root directory of your registration diskette.
4) Type REGISTER and press ENTER. When prompted to do so, type the
letter of the drive containing your registration diskette and then
press ENTER.
5) Registration information is applied to the initialization file
HAZEL.INI in the current directory.
6) Run the conversion program 11TO12.EXE to convert your HAZEL.INI and
address book files to v1.2. Follow the onscreen directions and
select option 2 to convert HAZEL.INI. Then select option 3 for
each address book file which requires conversion.
WARNING: Do NOT modify the file "HAZEL.INI" in the root directory of
your registration diskette for any reason; doing so may make it
impossible for you to transfer registration information to future
versions of Hazel.
Please contact me if you have any problems with the registration transfer
utility or with migrating your files.
