Q> What will you do?
ROBERT O'CONNOR>
I reach into my coat pocket. There I find it. The pen my father
entrusted to me all those years ago. Silver. Sleek. Telescoped.
I pull out the pen and I extend it to its full length. I wipe the sleep
from my eyes and finally look out into the audience, confident with my
reliable pointer pen. All in the audience stare back, silently. I see
all of their faces in detail. I withdraw my gaze and notice that they
are all in their underwear. Of course, this is as it should be. I
raise my familiar pointer pen and direct its tip to the wall behind me.
On the wall is an enormous diagram of men's and women's fashions. I
select the fashion conspicuously placed in the center. Here, I entone,
is the fashion of the future. The clothing that all of them will wear.
Grey, non-gender specific, functional. The audience applauds in
rhythmic clapping. I have done well.
