  1.                            ABOUT UTEFANS.DBF
  2.  
  3. PURPOSE: UTEFANS.DBF is a DBase IV database of information about shortwave 
  4. radio utility listening fans. It's purpose is to provide address information 
  5. to enable fans of HF utility listening to easily contact each other by either 
  6. electronic or printed means to exchange information about the hobby.
  7.  
  8. LISTING:  If you have HF utility loggings, frequency lists, etc. which 
  9. you would like to share with others you should be listed in the database.  
  10. To add your name to the listing just follow the format below and get your 
  11. information to Tom McKee at his address (electronic, snail mail, or phone). 
  12. Phone calls OK day or night (to 11 pm ET).  
  13.  
  14. DISTRIBUTION:  UTEFANS.DBF and this information file are distributed as a
  15. zipped file UTFNmmyy.ZIP (where mm = month & yy = year of issue.)  This 
  16. issue (UTFN0394.ZIP) contains approx. 130 records (many incomplete.)  
  17. Utility fans are urged to give UTFNmmyy.ZIP the widest possible distribution.  
  18. Automatic means of furthering a wide distribution are under investigation.

  20. UPDATES:  A new revision of UTEFANS.DBF will be released once each month.
  21. I will try hard to post the revision for the current month on the 
  22. Frequencies R Us BBS (919-851-3121) by the first.  Give the Sysop a few 
  23. days to get it put in it's proper slot before you call.

  25. DATA FORMAT:  The field length is 25 spaces except: KEY_NAME 15, ZIP 15, 
  26. HOME_PHONE 15, and HAM_CALL 10.  The 25 space limit was chosen to 
  27. allow printing 3 across on a page.  Try hard to fit the format.  I will 
  28. edit anything which is longer than the data field size except that I 
  29. will expand the field size to accomodate longer INTERNET or OTHEREMAIL 
  30. addresses.  Am I missing any other data items which should be included?  
  31.  
  32. ENTRY TIPS:  The COMPUTER entry should include all (and only) the 
  33. information required to allow someone to send you a disk which your 
  34. machine will read.  In the EQUIPMENT & SPECIALTES areas include only 
  35. those things which are relevant to HF utility listening.  Non-USA use 
  36. the ZIP field for country name.  A sample entry follows:
