CHAT server setup details (Version 4 BPQ)
-----------------------------------------
Getting started
---------------
To run the chat server you must have already installed the G8BPQ
version 4 node software.
Next set up a file which at the moment contains a one line logon
message. The file is
CHAT.CNF
Configure a window in DV which must be at least 22K in size. The
program requires 2 parameter values. The first is the starting
stream number and the second is the number of streams you wish
the chat node to manage. The maximum number is 10. When you open
the DV window all the streams will be disconnected and the messages
written to the screen.
SYSOP commands
--------------
From the local terminal you can see all the messages being sent
through the server and also talk to any or all of the users.
When you type it will be displayed in the bottom area of the
sysop screen. Any line entered here which is not preceded by a
/ will be sent out to all users as a message labelled
[SYSOP] xxxxxxxx
If you wish to communicate with one particular user type
/n xxxxxx where n is the stream number to which the
user is connected. The message will appear on the users screen as
<*SYSOP*> xxxxxxxx
The command /c will sent a polite message to all users then
disconnect them before closing the DV window.
The command /q will close it all down quickly.
User Commands
=============
The user commands are explained by the help list which is sent in
response to a /H command from the user.
