Recent changes to G8BPQ switching system
Version 4.05
Internal TNC2 application support removed (except in Data Engine). A new
driver, BPQHTNC2.COM replaces it.
Parameter added to DEDHOST to suppress PacketCluster 'Autotimer' messages.
Stations heard list included (MHEARD command).
REJ handling changed to try to stop multiple repeat transmissions.
Parameter added to disable the *** LINKED function. This is required for
some gateway systems, but can be abused. I suggest it is disabled
unless required by a gateway application.
Facility added to route transmitted frames to a different port. This is
for a 'Single transmitter, Multiple receivers' environment. If parameter
TXPORT=n is added to a port, all frames for that port will be sent on port n.
Support added for hardware interrupts 8-15.
Support added for Baycom USCC-Karte. Ports A and B are the 1200 baud ports.
Port C is the TTL port, and port D the G3RUH compatible 9600 baud port.
The documention on the various external application drivers has been merged
into file DRIVERS.DOC.
SOFTDCD should now work on HDLC cards.
Version 4.05e July 92
DEDHOST driver now prevents multiple incomming connects (For PacketCluster)
DCD Interrupt handling speeded up to improve SOFTDCD.
New Non-TSR version for operation as Network node only (See SWITCH.DOC).
Feature added to allow CTEXT to be sent to all users.
Various Bux fixes to BPQHTNC2.
Version 4.06 September 92
I am working (unfortunately rather slowly) on rationalising all the .DOC
files into a coherent SYSOP's Manual. In this release, the descriptions
of all the programs (except interface drivers) have been combined into
PROGS.DOC, and files BPQCODE.DOC and CONFIG.DOC merged. Other files have
been brought up to date.
Several bugs fixed in BPQHTNC2. New Function (AH=1F/AL=3) added to set
PACLEN to recommended value from node.
All numeric alises were treated as port numbers.
Reflected routes now get OBSCOUNT set, so they dont vanish too soon.
ON-OFF keying for CWID (mainly for use with G3RUH type modems, and
radios with a fast keying characteristic (eg Kantronics DataRadios)).
Code added to stop sessions sticking in Disconnecting state.
'*** LINKED to' processing fixed on Data Engine version.
Clocking setup on port C of BAYCOM USCC card (the TTL port) changed to
be compatible with the BAYCOM modem.
The driver code for linking to a NET/ROM diode matrix as been fixed. I had
misunderstood the system, and used the wrong polarity of signals. So inverters
were required to connect the PC to the matrix. Now a simple 5 wire cable with
one pull-up resistor can be used to link a diode matrix port intended for a
TNC2 to the PC. Remember that to operate with a matrix, you must set FULLDUP=0
in BPQCFG.TXT. This time I have tested it pretty throughly!
PC 2 --------------------- 3 MATRIX Port
3 --------------------- 2 (Wired for TNC2)
4 --------------------- 5
-- 5 --------------------- 20
|
R 7 --------------------- 7
|
-- 20 R = 10K resistor
One side-affect is that it is no longer possible to use the NETROM
port with a Half-Duplex landline modem. If anyone is actually using
such as system, please let me know, and I'll restore the facility.
Version 4.06a October 1992
Fix a bug introduced in 4.06 that disables the lost interrupt detection
code. This could result in an ASYNC port hanging, and the switch running
out of buffers. Only BPQCODE.EXE and SWITCH.EXE are changed from the
4.06 version.
Also the sample BPQCFG.TXT included a KISS port with IOADDR=3F8h, IRQ=3
which is invalid. This has been fixed.
Version 4.06b
Experimental version - not released.
Version 4.06c December 92
Incudes code to support my IP Router program IPGATE.EXE. Currently IPGATE
runs as a forground program, so will normally require the use of DesqView.
See file IPGATE.DOC for further information.
Version 4.06d
This was an experiment in use of Selective Reject (SREJ) processing. This is
designed to improve throughput, particularly when runing with a large MAXFRAME,
by retransmitting only missing frames, rather than everything following a
dropped frame. However it is not working correctly yet, so has been disabled.
Version 4.06e March 93
This fixes a problem where a lost tx interrupt on an HDLC hard could cause
the port to lock up, and the switch eventually run out of buffers.
Version 4.06f April 93
Fixes a bug in 4.06e which prevented access to the node via a digipeater.
Adds a driver to allow two or more BPQ nodes to be linked via Ethernet (see
section on ODIDRV in DRIVERS.DOC)
Version 4.06g May 93
Changed processing of RR(F) and REJ(F) received in response to an I(P)
frame. Any missing frames are now retransmitted immediately, instead of
waiting until after the next RR(P) command.
Added extra options to the STATS display, mainly for uses with more than 7
radio ports. S S displays just the system and L3/L4 counters. S n displays L2
counts for up to 7 ports, starting with port n.
Version 4.06k September 93
Versions h-j were either controlled or beta release only.
A bit more tinkering with REJ processing.
Improvements to IPGATE (see IPGATE.DOC), and integration of IPGATE
into SWITCH.EXE.
Fixed bug which could cause a corrupt 'NODES' broadcast to crash the switch.
Fixed PACLEN processing on ports using BPQHTNC2. Paclen should now be set
to the value recommended by the switch, which in the case of level 2 connects
will be the PORT PACLEN.
Fixed problem which prevented BPQNODES and BPQDUMP finding the switch if
there were no comms ports using interrupts 2-7.
Driver for PA0HZP's OptoSCC card is now documented. This driver has actually
been present for several versions, but I could never get it to work. It now
appears that my card is faulty, as others have used the driver successfully.
Version 4.07 December 93
Fixed problem with REJ handling, which could cause lots of repeats of a
frame, particularly on a very busy link.
Added new parameter, MINQUAL, to PORTS configuration. This defines the
lowest quality node that will be included in a Nodes broadcast on the
port.
Added new parameter LEARN Y/N to IPGATE.CFG. This allows the automatic
route learning mechanism to be disabled.
Version 4.07a January 1994
Added timestamps to monitor display in PAC4 and SWITCH.
Added REBOOT command to SYSOPH - causes PC to reboot.
See file QEMMPROB for a description of a problem which can arise when using
QEMM7. Many thanks to Mike, N1BEE for bringing this to my attention.
