ARLP004 Propagation DE KT7H
QST DE W1AW
Propagation Forecast Bulletin 4 ARLP004
From Tad Cook, KT7H
Seattle, WA January 28, 1994
To All Radio Amateurs
Average solar flux was up over 20 points last week compared to the
week earlier. If it hasn't peaked already, flux is expected to
reach 135 in the next few days and then begin a decline to below 100
before the middle of February. Around February 9, 15 and 18 there
could be some disturbances, but look for February 3 through 6 to be
very quiet, with especially good conditions on 80 and 160 meters.
Sunspot Numbers from January 20 through 26 were 54, 78, 102, 105,
106, 116 and 90, with a mean of 93. 10.7 cm flux was 105, 110.8,
113, 118.3, 129.1, 132.1 and 127.8, with a mean of 119.4.
The path projection for this week is from Seattle, Washington to the
South Cook Islands.
80 meters looks good from 0530z to 1500z, with 75 meter openings
beginning and ending a half hour sooner and later. 40 meters should
be open from 0500z to 1530z, and 30 meters from 0400z to 1630z.
20 meters looks good on a few days around the clock, but the best
bet is from 1600z to 1800z and 0130z to 0400z. Check 17 meters from
1700z to 2100z and from 2330z to 0300z. 15 meters looks good from
1730z to 0200z, and 12 meters from 1800z to 0100z. Check 10
meters from 1900z to 0000z.
