  48. WIA Extraordinary general meeting result

  51. The result of the vote of no-confidence in the Council of  the 
  52. NSW  Division Of the W.I.A.  was presented in a halting manner 
  53. on  last week's WIA broadcast and ,  as a result,  could  have 
  54. been misheard.  For those who did not hear it clearly, here is 
  55. the result of the vote:

  62. I  hope  this  clears up any misconceptions.

  68. --------------------
  69. Please  note that, because of Easter, the meeting will be  put 
  70. back  a week until Friday 8th April.  This is normal  practice 
  71. when  the meeting clashes with a public holiday,  and the  1st 
  72. April is Good Friday.

  93.                      SUMMARY OF ACTIVITY
  94.  
  95. Solar  activity  was very low for the entire period.
  96.  
  97. The  geomagnetic  field  at Learmonth (WA) was  quiet  4th-5th 
  98. except  for late on 5th when active levels were  observed.  On 
  99. 6th  the  field  was quiet to unsettled  increasing  to  storm 
  100. levels on 7th,  and continuing at active to minor storm levels 
  101. on 8th-10th. 
  102.  
  103. Ionospheric  F2 critical frequencies at Sydney were  depressed 
  104. by 15 per cent until 0300 on 4th,  then near normal until dawn 
  105. when  enhancements of 15 per cent were  observed.  Frequencies 
  106. remained enhanced by up to 20 per cent above predicted monthly 
  107. values until local dawn on 7th when depressions of 30 per cent 
  108. were observed.  Frequencies remained depressed by up to 40 per 
  109. cent  below  predicted  monthly values until the  end  of  the 
  110. period.

  112.      FORECAST FOR THE NEXT WEEK (11 -17 MARCH)
  113.  
  114. SOLAR:        very low
  115.  
  116. GEOMAGNETIC:   active  to minor storm levels expected for  11 
  117.                March, decreasing to active 12-15 March.
  118.  
  119. IONOSPHERIC   degraded HF comms are expected 11 - 14 March,
  120.               critical  frequencies  may be depressed 15  - 30 
  121.               per cent during this interval.

  205. LAND (AS-101) FROM 8-10 APRIL 1994. THE ISLAND IS 600 KM SOUTH 
  206. OF BANGKOK.  THEY WILL OPERATE RTTY,  CW,  SSB, FM, AMTOR, AND

  220. Results of QSLing.    
  221.         Yes,  it  does  get results when one sends a QSL  card 
  222. direct with a suitable green stamp enclosed.
  223.                      
  224.         Today,  10th March 1994, VK2BQS opened his mail box to 
  225. find a card from USA,  not unusual we agree...   The card  was 
  226. from  a well known QSL Manager and was posted  24th Feb  1994.  
  227. Still not unusual.
  228.  
  229.        It was for a QSO with ANGUILLA,  now that is unusual as 
  230. BQS  did  not  recall the  contact and felt sure it was a  new 
  231. country.
  232.         Wait,  it  shows a 2XSSB contact and it seems  a  long 
  233. time  since  anything other than RTTY has been QSLed.  But  it 
  234. does say TNX for QSL.
  235.  
  236.     Oh  boy,  the date of QSO ... 11-1-79...Fifteen years?????
  237.  
  238.         Dig  out the log book (number one)  and  woe,  nothing 
  239. under 11th January 1979,   thinks????  (like greenbottle). Dig 
  240. again,  for log book  number two, and there on 1st Nov 1979 is 
  241. VP2EY  and  lo and behold,  the QSL went  direct with a  green 
  242. stamp or equivalent, and this is the first reply.
  243.        And  a check of other records shows that was  the  only 
  244. time VP2E was worked in 17 years.
