How to read this Record Generated Using the
Modified Register Numbering System
This record was generated using the Modern Register Numbering
System.
The progenitor or other individual is given the number 1. Each
child is then numbered in order with lower-case Roman numerals (i, ii,
iii, iv, v, etc.). Each individual is also given a number regardless
of whether the line is subsequently carried on. A plus mark prior to
the number is used to indicate if the line is later carried on. This
is the system used by the National Genealogical Society Quarterly.
To Illustrate:
FIRST GENERATION
1 The progenitor
2 i 1st Child of number 1
3 ii 2nd Child of number 1
+ 4 iii 3rd Child of number 1
SECOND GENERATION
4 3rd Child of number 1
+ 5 i 1st Child of number 4
THIRD GENERATION
5 1st Child of number 4
6 i 1st Child of number 5
The index of the report list the Number assigned to the
individual. PAFBOOK identifies the number of spouse's, as well as
their parents, using the System Number of the progenitors descendant.
These are identified by using their husband's or wive's System Number
and adding a =H (Husband) or =W (Wife) and their appropriate marriage.
In this way multiple marriage are recorded. i.e: The spouse of 6
would be 6=H1 if female or =W1 if male. Using the same example, were
there more than one marriage they would be recorded as, 6=H1 and 6=H2
etc.
Parents or spouses are identified using the spouse's number and a
F (Father) or M (Mother). i.e: 6=H1F.
