F-14 Fleet Defender Roster Editor Version One
Once you've unzipped the F14REV1.ZIP file you should have two files.
This file (F14RE.DOC) and the executable program, F14RE.EXE.
To use the pilot editor just make sure that the F14RE.EXE file is in
your F14 directory and type 'F-14RE'.
The editor is very limited in what it can change right now(I'm
working on the rest of the pilot data) but it will allow you to change
pilot and RIO names(in campaigns only) In the main menu you can either
choose which squadron to edit, get information on this program or quit
to DOS. If you want to edit pilot names just select menu choice 'A'
and you will be presented with a list of squadrons. Just pick the
squadron that you want to edit the pilots in to continue. If you
choose the '?' menu option you will get program info.
NOTE: You need to start the campaign in F-14 FD first and then run
F14RE to change pilot names. This is neccasary due to the way that F14
FD chooses names to fill the squadrons.
Once you've chosen a squadron you will be given a list of all 21
pilots/RIOs in the squadron. Position number one is your pilot/RIO. To
change a pilot's name just type their number. There is also an option
(number 22) to import names from an external file. Once you decide to
use an external file you will be asked whether you want to import
pilot names. If you do want to import the pilot names the only other
thing you'll have to do is tell the program what file to use. Once
you've imported the pilot names you will be asked if you want to
import the RIO names. The process is the same as importing pilot
names.
This is the format of the pilot name import files:
Firstname,Callsign,Lastname,
There can not be any spaces between the different names and you also
need to have a comma at the end. You can have any number of names in
this file but it will only take the first 21. Also you don't need to
have all the names in this file. You may only have 2 pilot names
in it so the program will only rename the first 2 pilots.
For the RIO name file you need to use the following format:
Lastname,Callsign,
Again there can not be spaces in between the different names and
there must be a trailing comma.
That's about all there is to it. If you have any suggestions or
problems please drop me an e-mail and I'll see if I can help. I can be
found on NVN in the flight sim forum (GO FLIGHTSIM). My e-mail address
is jwiegert(on NVN) or on the Internet jwiegert@nvn.com.
I hope you find this program useful and keep an eye out for newer
versions with more capabilities.
