PC FONT
Version 3.0
SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS:
PCFONT requires an IBM PC fitted with a VGA monitor. The generated fonts are
compatible with EGA and VGA based systems.
IN BRIEF:
PC FONT is a system for creating and editing IBM PC DOS typefaces (fonts). Two
executable programs are supplied:
PCFONT.EXE The character generator
NEWFONT.EXE Loads and activates a font definition file for use with DOS
applications
To activate PCFONT, simply enter the command line "pcfont" from the DOS
prompt. The on-screen instructions are simple to follow and don't require
further discussion here.
USING FONTS:
There are two ways to use DOS fonts; firstly they can be activated with the
supplied "newfont" program. This loads the font from disk into the area of RAM
reserved for fonts by the video BIOS. Loaded fonts TAKE UP NO AVAILABLE RAM. A
font so loaded remains active untill a DOS mode command is issued, either by
the operator or by a program. Secondly, registered users receive source code
and library files for building and loading font definitions into their own
application programs.
Servile Software's Saturn database makes use of fonts defined with PCFONT.
Users of Saturn can make use of PCFONT to edit and define their own prefered
typefaces.
