  3.   LICENSE NUMBER FORMAT:
  4.   The State of New York currently issues a nine (9) character numeric
  5.   license  number   without  delimiters  or   punctuation.  New  York
  6.   previously issued a nineteen character alpha numeric license number
  7.   that could occasionally  grow to twenty characters in  the event of
  8.   tie numbers.

  11.   DOCUMENT:
  12.   The   plastic   photographic   license   manufactured  by  National
  13.   Identification  Systems, displays  the driver's  photograph in  the
  14.   lower left corner of the document. A light blue image of the statue
  15.   of  liberty  provides  the  backdrop  for  the  textual area of the
  16.   license, and a repetitive pattern  of the state seal appears within
  17.   the surface. The security laminate will cause the license to have a
  18.   "silky" feel.

  21.   TERM:
  22.   License  is valid  for four   (4) years,  expiring on  the driver's
  23.   birthday.

  26.   MINORS:
  27.   Minor license of current issue shows  the driver's date of birth in
  28.   red above  the photograph and  "UNDER 21 YEARS  OF AGE" at  the top
  29.   right  corner  next  to  the  state  silhouette,  also in red. Some
  30.   previous  issues showed  "UNDER 21   YEARS OF  AGE" printed  in red
  31.   overlapping  the right  edge of  the photograph.  Drivers under  18
  32.   receive class 6, or DJ or 8, or MJ licenses.

  36.   Commercial drivers license is indicated by the word "COMMERCIAL" in
  37.   the heading.
