  3.   LICENSE NUMBER FORMAT:
  4.   The State  of Missouri currently uses  the driver's Social Security
  5.   Number as the license number. Previously, Missouri issued a sixteen
  6.   (16) character  alpha-numeric drivers license  number consisting of
  7.   one (1) alpha character followed by fifteen (15) numeric characters
  8.   with dash delimiters that break the number into a 4-4-4-4 grouping:
  9.   (Annn-nnnn-nnnn-nnnn)

  11.   Missouri  used a  unique soundex  algorithm to  generate a  license
  12.   number  from the  driver's name,  date of  birth, and sex, breaking
  13.   this information into coded portions as follows:

  15.   Last name                          -  first thirteen (13) characters
  16.   First name and middle initial      -  first thirteen (13) characters
  17.   Year of birth                      -  last three (3) characters
  18.   Date of birth and sex              -  last three (3) characters

  21.   DOCUMENT:
  22.   The plastic photographic license  is coated with 3M retroreflective
  23.   laminate.  The  driver's  photograph  appears  in  the  lower right
  24.   corner,  overlapped  at   the  top  by  the  state   seal  and  the
  25.   administrator's signature. The Missouri  State seal and a radiating
  26.   security pattern  appear over the textual  portion of the document,
  27.   and a reproduction  of the state seal and  "MISSOURI" appear within
  28.   the laminate.

  31.   TERM:
  32.   License is valid for three (3) years from the date of issue, though
  33.   some documents are valid for five (5) years.

  36.   MINORS:
  37.   Minor license  shows "MINOR" stamped  in large red  phantom letters
  38.   across the textual portion of the document.

  41.   CDL:
  42.   Commercial  drivers  license  is  indicated  by  "CDL"  on  a green
  43.   headbar,  or by  "MISSOURI/COMMERCIAL DRIVERS  LICENSE" printed  in
  44.   white letters on a green sticker affixed to the license.
