CONNECTICUT
LICENSE NUMBER FORMAT:
The State of Connecticut issues a nine (9) digit numeric license
number with no spaces or delimiting characters between the digits:
(nnnnnnnnn) The first two digits of the license correspond to the
driver's month and year of birth. The first two characters are
coded as follows:
01 - 12 for the driver's month of birth if the driver's year of
birth is odd.
13 - 24 for the driver's month of birth if the driver's year of
birth is even.
DOCUMENT:
The plastic laminated photographic license, manufactured by
Polaroid, shows "CONNECTICUT" in large gold letters printed over
the licensee's photograph, and in smaller letters over the textual
area of the license. The licensee's photograph appears in the lower
left of the license document. The commissioner's signature and
camera number appear next to the photograph or overlap it's edge.
The issue date is shown vertically next to the commissioner's
signature on older licenses.
TERM:
DLicense is valid for three (3) to five (5) years, expiring on the
driver's birth date.
MINORS:
Minors receive a license with a yellow "Y" stamped over the textual
area.
CDL:
Commercial license is indicated by a green bar bearing "CDL".
