  3.   LICENSE NUMBER FORMAT:
  4.   The Province of Alberta issues a  nine (9) (or fewer) digit numeric
  5.   drivers license number that may be delimited with a dash or dashes.
  6.   License  numbers  are  sequentially  issued,  with  no  correlation
  7.   between  licensee's personal  identifiers and  the license  number:
  8.   (nnnnnn-nnn)

  11.   DOCUMENT:
  12.   The two  part license consists of  a plastic laminated photographic
  13.   portion  manufactured  by  Polaroid  and  a  paper  portion  either
  14.   manufactured by Canadian Bank Note or made of high quality security
  15.   paper manufactured by Data  Business Forms. The driver's photograph
  16.   appears in the upper left  corner of the photographic portion, with
  17.   it's  right  edge  straddled  by   the  black  Alberta  seal.  Text
  18.   backgrounds and trim are in red  on both the photographic and paper
  19.   portions of the license.

  22.   TERM:
  23.   General  license  is  valid  for  five  (5)  years, expiring on the
  24.   driver's birthday. Probationary license is valid for two (2) years,
  25.   also expiring on the driver's birthday.

  28.   MINORS:
  29.   Minor's  license shows  no special  indication of  age. Check birth
  30.   date  on the  license document.   First time  drivers are  issued a
  31.   Probationary license that shows  "PROBATIONARY DRIVER" in black ink
  32.   on a white field.
