  5.   ONE LINE PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:
  6.         Tracks food cost, inventory, and nutrition, including exchanges.
  7.  
  8.   SHORT PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:
  9.         MYF is a complete food manager designed for food manufacturers,
  10.         institutional food planners, restaurant managers, dietitians,
  11.         diabetics, and the home shopper. Its use is easy enough for the
  12.         novice, yet comprehensive enough for a professional dietitian. The
  13.         program will track cost, protein, carbohydrates, fat, calories,
  14.         cholesterol, fatty acids, crude fiber, vitamins, minerals, food
  15.         exchanges, percent RDI, and two user defined fields. The user-
  16.         defined fields will track a trace mineral, amino acid, or other
  17.         item not already listed in the database. The cost and nutritional
  18.         information, by serving, is automatically figured for each recipe,
  19.         meal, or plan as it's added or updated. MYF will easily multiply any
  20.         recipe, inform you of the exact cost, and make sure you don't forget
  21.         an item when ordering or shopping. The program will make periodic
  22.         ordering (going shopping once a week) a breeze, while adding variety
  23.         to your meals. It can output a complete order form (shopping list)
  24.         arranged by supplier and section (store and aisle) and deduct the
  25.         quantity from the inventory. All records in all files may be sorted
  26.         by field, then listed to the screen, printer or disk. Recipes
  27.         containing a specified ingredient may be listed. Sophisticated queries
  28.         and reports are easy to do. Any size recipe card may be printed.
  29.         Although MYF comes with recipes and ingredients, which are yours to
  30.         use, it is easily extended and designed to manage your food using your
  31.         recipes. Additional ingredients, recipes, meals, or plans may be
  32.         added, and any existing information may be easily modified. NLEA
  33.         labels may also be outputted.

  35.         Context sensitive HELP is available at anytime, even in the Pull Down
  36.         Menu. Just highlight the item of interest and press F1.

  38.         All nutritional information is from USDA Handbook #8 Release 10.

  40.   UNSOLICITED USER COMMENT:
  41.         MYF "can be used to control food costs, purchasing, and inventory.
  42.         Another main area of concern this program addresses very well is the
  43.         problem of inconsistency of food production which can be handled
  44.         through instant recipes and complete control of recipe updates. It
  45.         also lends itself well to the requisitioning procedures of drawing
  46.         food for production from a controlled storeroom, either for recipes,
  47.         meals, or plans. The ability to print menus when needed right on the
  48.         premises is certainly the way of the future; to do so easily and cost
  49.         effectively now allows the chef to take advantage of seasonal price
  50.         fluctuations and timely market specials, which today is necessary for
  51.         just survival in most cases. To be able to alter the prices across the
  52.         board, because of an ingredient that jumps in price and then have the
  53.         ability to either change the menu price or just omit the item
  54.         completely without showing it on the menu at all, and in a moments
  55.         notice, is nothing short of fabulous. These types of controls are
  56.         absolutely mandatory in todays thinking chef. And last but certainly
  57.         not least is to be able to print the nutritional data of all foods
  58.         being offered while accessing a data bank of 5000 ingredients all
  59.         written to USDA standards again is incredible."

  64.   REGISTRATION COST AND BENEFITS:
  65.         Registration is $35. This provides free updates, telephone and
  66.         BBS support (download the latest version, exchange recipes,
  67.         leave messages, or ask questions). An ingredient database of
  68.         release 10 of USDA Agriculture Handbook 8 (5200 ingredients) is
  69.         available to registered users for an additional $15 postpaid.

  71.   MINIMUM SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS:            MYF ALSO SUPPORTS:
  72.         Any Monitor (Mono or Color).            Mouse.
  73.         512K Memory or more.                    IBM or any ASCII Printer.
  74.         DOS 2.0 or higher.
  75.         Two drives, One must be over 400K (Hard drive VERY HIGHLY recommended).

  77.   DISTRIBUTION POLICY:
  78.         MYF is distributed as shareware in archive format to allow it to
  79.         fit on one 360K disk and to separate the data from the program.
  80.         You have my permission and encouragement to copy and distribute this
  81.         program in an unmodified state. A nominal copying, handling, and/or
  82.         disk charge may be collected.

  84.   INSTALLATION:
  85.         To extract the files, simply type "A:INSTALL" or "B:INSTALL" and follow
  86.         the directions. Both Metric and American units of measure are included
  87.         in this distribution. When updating, the data files are not extracted.
  88.         Versions below 4.20 used nutritional information from release 9 of the
  89.         USDA nutrient databank. Versions 4.50 and above use release 10a that
  90.         include the database fixes. To get the latest data release, be sure to
  91.         perform a "NEW" install, to extract the INGREDIENT file. Do not
  92.         overwrite your recipe, meal, and plan files, if you want to keep them.

  103.         MYF4DATM.EXE contains the data with Metric measurements (*.DAT).
  104.         MYF4KEYS.COM contains the key files for the data (*.KEY).
  105.         MYF4_UPD.COM contains the table and template files
  106.               (TEMPLATE.*, IMPORT.RCP, LABEL.LAW, MYF.TBL).
