* MANAGING YOUR FOOD Version 4.51 (c) 1994 by MYF Software *
**************************************************************************
ONE LINE PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:
Tracks food cost, inventory, and nutrition, including exchanges.
SHORT PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:
MYF is a complete food manager designed for food manufacturers,
institutional food planners, restaurant managers, dietitians,
diabetics, and the home shopper. Its use is easy enough for the
novice, yet comprehensive enough for a professional dietitian. The
program will track cost, protein, carbohydrates, fat, calories,
cholesterol, fatty acids, crude fiber, vitamins, minerals, food
exchanges, percent RDI, and two user defined fields. The user-
defined fields will track a trace mineral, amino acid, or other
item not already listed in the database. The cost and nutritional
information, by serving, is automatically figured for each recipe,
meal, or plan as it's added or updated. MYF will easily multiply any
recipe, inform you of the exact cost, and make sure you don't forget
an item when ordering or shopping. The program will make periodic
ordering (going shopping once a week) a breeze, while adding variety
to your meals. It can output a complete order form (shopping list)
arranged by supplier and section (store and aisle) and deduct the
quantity from the inventory. All records in all files may be sorted
by field, then listed to the screen, printer or disk. Recipes
containing a specified ingredient may be listed. Sophisticated queries
and reports are easy to do. Any size recipe card may be printed.
Although MYF comes with recipes and ingredients, which are yours to
use, it is easily extended and designed to manage your food using your
recipes. Additional ingredients, recipes, meals, or plans may be
added, and any existing information may be easily modified. NLEA
labels may also be outputted.
Context sensitive HELP is available at anytime, even in the Pull Down
Menu. Just highlight the item of interest and press F1.
All nutritional information is from USDA Handbook #8 Release 10.
UNSOLICITED USER COMMENT:
MYF "can be used to control food costs, purchasing, and inventory.
Another main area of concern this program addresses very well is the
problem of inconsistency of food production which can be handled
through instant recipes and complete control of recipe updates. It
also lends itself well to the requisitioning procedures of drawing
food for production from a controlled storeroom, either for recipes,
meals, or plans. The ability to print menus when needed right on the
premises is certainly the way of the future; to do so easily and cost
effectively now allows the chef to take advantage of seasonal price
fluctuations and timely market specials, which today is necessary for
just survival in most cases. To be able to alter the prices across the
board, because of an ingredient that jumps in price and then have the
ability to either change the menu price or just omit the item
completely without showing it on the menu at all, and in a moments
notice, is nothing short of fabulous. These types of controls are
absolutely mandatory in todays thinking chef. And last but certainly
not least is to be able to print the nutritional data of all foods
being offered while accessing a data bank of 5000 ingredients all
written to USDA standards again is incredible."
Sincerely,
Donald G. Souza, Chef
Virginia Beach, Virginia
