  26.         *   Any IBM PC or compatible with a word processing and
  27.             spreadsheet program.  These files are designed for use
  28.             by those with a basic (not advanced) knowledge of word
  29.             processing and spreadsheets.

  35.             Microsoft Works (DOS) 2.0 or greater

  40.             Microsoft Works (DOS) 2.0 or greater
  41.             Microsoft Excel for Windows v4.0 or greater

  43.             The text files are in WordPerfect 5.1 (*.WP), Microsoft
  44.     Works 2.0 (*.WPS) and Word/Windows 2.0 (*.DOC) formats.  The
  45.     spreadsheet files are in Lotus 1-2-3 files v2.2 (*.WK1), Excel
  46.     4.0 (*.XLS) and Microsoft Works v2.0 (*.WKS).  Any later
  47.     versions (as well as Windows versions) and also many other
  48.     competitive programs such as WordStar, Word, or Quattro Pro
  49.     should be able to import these files.

  51.         I am partial to laser printers, but it is not a
  52.     requirement UNLESS you are planning to present this plan to
  53.     venture capitalists or other sophisticated investors.
  54.     
  55.         A Macintosh version is also available.  It is located on
  56.     CompuServe, Ziffnet, America OnLine, BMUG, BCS-Mac, and the
  57.     Internet, several shareware vendors and from the author.
  58.

  60.     Purpose:
  61.     
  62.         Every business needs to have a plan in order to track
  63.     its progress.  There is no business too small, too large,
  64.     too complex or too simple to avoid having a business plan.
  65.     I found that many businessmen assume that the usefulness
  66.     of their business plan is over once the business is
  67.     up and running.  I have been successful using business
  68.     plans not only to start businesses, but as important
  69.     management tools in an going businesses.
  70.     
  71.         This program is designed for use by any size (small,
  72.     medium or large) or type (product or service) of business.
  73.     It also includes all the necessary information which most
  74.     lenders or investors are seeking.
  75.     
  76.         I didn't write this program in an ivory tower some
  77.     place, but out of my own business experiences.  For seven
  78.     years, I imported cuckoo clocks from the Black Forest of
  79.     Germany, so this is definetly a "cuckoo" program!  I have
  80.     been involved in many other business ventures.  I'd be lying
  81.     if I said I made money with all of them.  But I can
  82.     truthfully say that all were successful, mainly because I
  83.     wrote a plan and stuck to that plan.

  85.         BUSINESS PLAN MASTER supplies you with complete template
  86.     files.  I give you professional formats (footnootes, tables
  87.     of contents,some simple graphics), some excellent sample
  88.     text and several spreadsheet files for you to use.  Alone
  89.     these could save you many hundreds of hours of work.
  90.     Because of the wide diversity of businesses and business
  91.     ideas, I have tried to make these files as universal as
  92.     possible.  Over time, you will incorporate your own
  93.     language into the text and make modifications to the
  94.     worksheets.

  105.         If you want to get started quickly, just read these few
  106.     lines:

  108.         FIRST, take a look at what is here.

  110.         SECOND, take a look at the Tutorial. Simply type the
  111.     word "Tutorial" in the C:\BIZ directory.

  113.         THIRD, Open the spreadsheets in your spreadsheet program.
  114.     The best file to look at first is BPMPROF.* (Proforma Financial
  115.     Statements).  I highly recommend that you do your spreadsheet
  116.     work first.  Make sure your business idea is going to be
  117.     financially worthwhile before trying to write the text portion.

  119.         FOURTH, Get into your word processing program.  Open the
  120.     BUSINESS PLAN MASTER file, either BIZPLN27.WP (WordPerfect 5.1),
  121.     BIZPLN27.WPS (MS Works) or BIZPLN27.TXT (ASCII text).  This is
  122.     the main BUSINESS PLAN MASTER file which will contain the text
  123.     you will use.

  230.         Shareware describes a method of distributing copyrighted
  231.     software in which a user is allowed to fully evaluate the
  232.     software before purchasing it.  After an evaluation period,
  233.     the user is REQUIRED to register the product if he decides
  234.     to keep using it.

  236.         Shareware distribution addresses all of the legitimate
  237.     complaints that users have with commercial software
  238.     distribution.

  241.         free of charge, in his or her home or business, BEFORE

  244.       o Shareware programs can circulate freely on Bulletin

  288.         BUSINESS PLAN MASTER has been under development for over
  289.     five years.  During that period it has been in constant use
  290.     by its author.  BUSINESS PLAN MASTER was originally
  291.     developed for the IBM PC.  It was later developed to run on
  292.     Apple Macintosh computers.  The development now is done
  293.     concurrently - wherever I feel like working on a particular
  294.     day!

  320.     upgrade, but I wanted it to sound important. Dumped the

  323.     errors in the spreadsheets, and a few typos (spell checkers
  324.     are not perfect). Probably added a few typos as well, just
  325.     to keep you on your toes. (Periodic minor changes along the
  326.     way, like Internet access.)
