THANK YOU
────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
Thank you for registering. Your registration will go into the futher
advancement of Romdoor and other A.S.C. programming. If you ever have
a utility that you are just dying to have, but you just don't know how
to write it, we will listen. Thanks again.
WHAT DID YOU GET WHEN YOU REGISTERED?
────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
Access to premade databases:
If you gave me a password on the registration form I will add you to
Advanced Software Concepts(ASC) user database and you will be able to
call and download premade CD-ROM databases which you can import into
RomDoor. If you forgot to leave me a password, just log on the board
and leave me a message telling me that you are a registered RomDoor
user. I will upgrade you.
Extra features such as:
Create your own ANSI and ASCII menus. You can now allow your users
to create text file listings of your file areas, so they can browse
them offline. You can now setup a maximum of 32 CD-ROM disks.
More utilites such as:
ROMEDIT.EXE : The equivilent of WCPRO.EXE but for RomDoor.
ROMCHK.EXE : Reports the duplicate files between RomDoor and WC!.
FIXROM.EXE : Fix your database if it gets corrupted.
PREMADE.EXE : Import the premade databases that you can download.
ROMBULL.EXE : Create various bulletins for use on your board.
HOW TO USE AND INSTALL THE EXTRA FEATURES
────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
(1) To create your own screens you can use the WC! "@" color and
information codes. If you decide to make an ANSI and ASCII screen
instead of using "@" codes then you will need to have an ANSI
editor such as THEDRAW.
The names of the files should be:
"@" Coded Screen : ROMDOOR.BBS
ANSI Color Screen : ROMDOOR.SCR
ASCII Non-Color Screen : ROMDOOR.BBS
A list of the "@" codes that RomDoor supports are in ATCODES.LST.
(2) To enable the text file listings you need to load up MAKEROM, press
ENTER on "Edit RomDoor Main Parameters" and move to the field
called BBS ID. Now type in eight meaningful letters of your
BBS name. Note if you leave this field blank the feature will
be disabled in the door.
[Page 3, RomDoor v3.00]
(3) To setup more CD-ROMs install them the same way you did the first
two.
(4) To use the request feature please read the section called "Setting
up and maintaining the request feature" located in ROMDOOR.DOC.
HOW TO USE AND INSTALL THE EXTRA UTILITIES
────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
RomEdit : To run RomEdit just type ROMEDIT. A screen showing you the
the CD-ROM disks you have installed in RomDoor should pop up.
Press ENTER on the disk you want to edit or browse; when you
do the first 20 files in the database should show up on the
screen. Use the cursor keys to navagate through the database,
you may delete, insert, or edit any file record you want.
Description of keys:
From browse window:
ENTER: Modify current record.
DEL: Delete current record.
INS: Insert new record.
ALT-C: Allows you to change the CD-ROM disk that you are
browsing.
ALT-D: If RomEdit doesn't know the drive path that the
CD-ROM disk is in then you will need to specify it
before RomEdit needs to access the CD-ROM disk.
ALT-F: Allows you to find a specific file or file area,
depending on the sort key that you are on.
ALT-S: Allows you to change the sorting method. There are
three different methods: "Area", "Name", and "Not
Found". The first two are self-explainitory, but
"Not Found" isn't. "Not Found" is the only useful
when you want to find out what files are not located
on the the disk, note that the files are placed in
this key only after preforming the ALT-U operation.
ALT-U: Allows you to compare the disk to the database. For
more information about this feature please read the
"OPTIMIZING ROMDOOR - USING ROMDOOR TO SPEED UP
MARKING" section in ROMDOOR.DOC.
ALT-V: Allows you to preform an action on the current file.
Most often to view the file's contents. To use this
feature you must create a text file called
ROMEDIT.CFG located in the RomDoor directory. This
file has the following format:
<Extention>=<Program to execute> ^.<Extention>
For example:
ZIP=SHEZ ^.ZIP
ARJ=SHEZ ^.ARJ
ARC=SHEZ ^.ARC
GIF=VPIC ^.GIF
RomEdit will replace the "^" with the file name.
[Page 4, RomDoor v3.00]
From edit window (When you press ENTER, DEL, or INS from the
browse window):
CTRL-Y: Clear field.
F3: Check for files existence on the disk, if the file
exists in the area specified then get the size and date
from the disk.
F10: Save Changes.
ESC: Cancel Changes.
RomChk : To run RomChk just type RomChk. When you do this RomChk will
start comparing the two databases and will report to you any
duplicates it finds. It will put the files in a file named
ROMCHK.LOG.
FixRom : This will rebuild your ROMFILES.DAT and ROMFILES.IX files in
case they were corrupted in any way. This is a just in case
program...
RomBull : This utility will all you to create two different bulletins
for use on your board. To run simply type ROMBULL it will
load up the configuration screen. Type in the path to the
file name you wish to use for each bulletin, for example:
C:\WC30\BULL\BULL1 (Don't put the "." or the extension on)
Once you have configured RomBull press F10. Now type ROMBULL.
You will be shown the various command line parameters. Select
the command you wish to use and type ROMBULL <command>.
RomBull will create the bulletin(s) you have chosen.
RomBull is network safe and will run while a user is in
RomDoor.
If you have suggestions for other bulletins please let me
know.
Thanks again for registering and supporting shareware. I really
appreciate it.
