UPGRADING FROM EZYAD v2 TO EZYAD v3
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
If you've been running EzyAd version 2 on your system, it's a simple
matter to change over to version 3. However, you will need to re-write (or at
least modify) your EZYAD.CFG configuration file.
Firstly, copy the version 3 EZYAD.EXE over your old copy of EZYAD.EXE.
If it's not residing in your BBS system directory, modify your AUTOEXEC.BAT
file and include the statement:
SET EZYAD=<path-to-EzyAd-files>
Next comes the fun bit, editing the configuration file...
1. Amalgamate your LOGOFILE= and LOGOPATH= statements into one line - EzyAd
now expects both the path and name of the "logo" file to be passed on one
line:
LOGOFILE=<drive>:<path>\<filename>
2. Amalgamate your FLISTFILE= and FLISTPATH= statements, for the same reasons
as given above:
FLISTFILE=<drive>:<path>\<filename>
3. If you have a BEEP= statement in your configuration file, remove it - EzyAd
now keeps quiet at the BBS end, and sends a beep at the remote end. This
should preserve sanity :)
4. Add the commands BANNERLOC=, BORDER=, and PESTFILE= to your configuration
file, referring to the EZYAD300.DOC file for reference to the available
options in these commands.
That's it! You don't need to change the protocol definitions, as they're
the same as for version 2. All you need now is a "guinea pig" (oops, I meant
user) to try it out for you.
