INTRODUCTION.
-------------
CONDIZ can best be described as a FILE_ID.DIZ management tool. The
program was written to ease the Sysop's job of commenting files on the
BBS. The program has the following features :
- Display of files within .ZIP & .ARJ archives.
- Creation of new FILE_ID.DIZ files with text graphics.
- Editing of existing FILE_ID.DIZ files within archives.
- Deletion of FILE_ID.DIZ files from within archives.
- Creation of DIZ libraries for storing DIZ files for
future versions of the same software.
- Network aware.
- Works with all versions of PKZIP and ARJ.
- Text gathering facility from internal archive viewer.
- Import of ASCII files from internal editor.
There are many other features built into the program.
PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS.
---------------------
The program requires the following:
384 KB RAM
PKZIP.EXE & PKUNZIP.EXE v 1.1 OR 2.04G
ARJ.EXE v 2.20+
Note that all the archive executables must be in the DOS path for
successful execution of the program.
INSTALLATION.
-------------
The self extracting CONDIZ archive contains the following files :
Shareware INSTALL .COM The CONDIZ installation program.
CDZ .EXE The CONDIZ self extracting archive.
FILE_ID .DIZ The archive description file.
README .1ST The preliminary installation doc.
CDZCFG .COM The CONDIZ configuration utility.
Note that the archive should display -AV when extracting the files, if
not the archive has been tampered with. The latest version of CONDIZ
can be downloaded from my bulletin board -

Automatic Installation.
-----------------------
Unpack the CONDZxxx.ZIP into a temporary directory and type INSTALL.
The program will ask you where to install the program files. If the
target directory doesn't already exist the installation program will
create it for you. Once the program has moved the necessary files,
the CONFIGURATION screen will appear. On completion of this screen
the program will optionally modify your AUTOEXEC.BAT to include the
CDZ environment variable. Installation is now complete.
Manual Installation.
--------------------
NB!!!!!!!!NB!!!!!!!!
--------------------
The format for the CONDIZ.INI is as follows:
Line 1 : Registration Name
Line 2 : Registration Number
Line 3 : CONDIZ Data Path
Line 4 : External Editor Path and Name
Line 5 : External Filemanager Path and Name
Line 6 : Path to PKZIP
Line 7 : Path to ARJ
Line 8 : TEMP Path
If you are installing CONDIZ manually please follow the following
steps:
1. I assume you're reading this document from the directory where you
wish CONDIZ to reside. Edit your AUTOEXEC.BAT and add the
following line
SET CDZ=[Drive:\Path]
For example:
SET CDZ=C:\UTILS
2. Reboot the computer and return to the directory where the
CONDIZ.EXE file has been unarchived to. Execute CONDIZ and then
select the UTILITIES MENU and then Configure CONDIZ. Complete the
configuration screen - examples are provided on the screen.
Only three fields on the screen are required:
1. CONDIZ Datapath
2. PKZIP Path
3. ARJ Path
The other fields :
1. External Editor
2. File Manager
3. TEMP Path
are all optional and will enhance CONDIZs' functionality. When
setting up the external file manager or editor you may utilise any
command line option that the program normally accepts. Bear in
mind that if you don't wish to use the CONDIZ internal editor you
will not be able to use the framing and viewing features built into
the CONDIZ internal editor.
3. CONDIZ will now be fully functional provided you have inserted the
SET CDZ environment variable

The File Manager option will call either the internal or an external
file manager, depending on which you have configured CONDIZ to use.
The internal file manager is very basic and can only perform file
moves and deletes from the CURRENT directory. If using CONDIZ on a
network, be careful about how much memory is necessary to an external
file manager. CONDIZ uses about 173Kb of RAM.
Shell To DOS.
-------------
The option allows one to SHELL to DOS - retains CONDIZ in memory.
Selecting this option will immediately perform a SHELL to DOS. Note

FILE VIEWER FUNCTIONS.
----------------------
File Viewer.
------------
The file viewer is used frequently while in CONDIZ and offers the
following functions:
1. View text files within an archive.
2. View DIZ files either in an archive or in a library.
3. Search for Text.
4. Gather text for export.
The size of the on-screen viewer is automatically determined by the
type of file that is being viewed. A non-DIZ file will be viewed full
screen. The viewer displays DIZ files in 13 line x 45 chars. Binary
files may be viewed, but bear in mind that this viewer was not
designed for viewing such files - screen output is not formatted.
The viewer has a text search facility accessed by pressing F3.
Gather Text.
------------
Have you ever received an archive with no DIZ and great docs and had
the frustration of creating an ACCURATE .DIZ based on the docs? The
GATHER TEXT facility in CONDIZ will end your problems! It will allow
you to clip a section of text whilst viewing the document IN THE
archive. You may then save the clip to disk and then create a DIZ
with the saved clipping. No ten-fold process to get the text for your
DIZ files.
The GATHER function may be started at any time whilst viewing a file
inside an archive by presing Alt+G. A highlight bar will appear on
the first line of the view window. Use the cursor keys to move bar
to the first line of text that you wish to clip and then press Alt+S.
Move the bar down to highlight the text block and press Alt+S again
when you are finished. You may press Alt+G to abort the GATHER.
After the second Alt+S you will prompted to enter an export file name.
The file will be saved in the CURRENT directory. Should the file
already exist CONDIZ will display a prompt asking for confirmation of
overwrite. If you choose not to overwrite the existing file you will
be given the opportunity of entering a new export name or aborting the
GATHER by pressing Esc.
If you are using the CONDIZ internal editor you will be able to import
the clipped text directly (Import ASCII DIZ).
Please note that the GATHER function will ONLY work on one screen, so
be sure that ALL the text that you wish to GATHER is on the screen
when you start your gather.
