  20. DESCRIPTION:
  21.  
  22.      Classified Ads is a full-featured Ad listing door with support for
  23.      most major BBS user drop files.  It supports DOOR.SYS,
  24.      USERINFO.DAT, USERS.SYS, PCBOARD.SYS, SFDOORS.DAT, DORINFOx.DEF,
  25.      TRIBBS.SYS, CALLINFO.BBS and GTUSER.BBS.
  26.  
  27.      Users may enter the door and list their ad with their telephone
  28.      number and a short description of the service they are advertising.
  29.      SysOps may use 10 different categories of their on choice in the
  30.      door.
  31.  
  32. SUPPORT:
  33.  
  34.      Support for Classified Ads is available from several sources.  Messages
  35. may be left on The Parole Board BBS in the "PAROLE Software" conference
  36. or the Mustang! BBS in the "PRIVATE" conference.  If you feel that a
  37. message is not satisfactory you may call me voice.  (919) 965-3600
  38. Please call before 9:30pm EST as I am an early riser and need to get my
  39. "beauty sleep".
  40.  
  41. NOTE:  *PLEASE* check your file name and paths very carefully.  Ninety
  42. percent of the calls I get, are due to an incorrect path or CFG file
  43. setup.  Read the following instructions carefully before calling.
  44.  
  45. UPDATES:
  46.  
  47.      Updates are FREE to registered users and may be downloaded from The
  48. Parole Board BBS, Mustang! BBS and various other BBS systems.  Once
  49. registered, CatList updates are free as long as I ome the rights to it.
  50. If you wish an update on disk, send $3 to the address listed above and
  51. specify the disk size.
  52.  
  53.     If you are in a hurry and do not want to take the time to logon,
  54. enter " PAROLE SOFTWARE NOW! " at the name prompt.  It will give you
  55. access to the PAROLE Software file & support areas.  Don't forget the
  56. "!" on "NOW".
  57.  
  58. REGISTRATION:

  60.       Registration is currently $15 and will entitle you to future
  61. upgrades.  I reserve the right to change the price in the future.

  93. On lines 12, 13 and 16, the trailing "\" is optional.  ADDOR.EXE will
  94. auto-detect it and act accordingly.
  95.  
  96.  1.  Path to BBS User file

  99.  4.  SysOp's last name.
  100.  5.  Serial Number if registered.
  101.  6.  Number of days for listings to remain active. {set to 3-5 for beta}

  103.  8.  Path and name of Color bulletin. Be sure to add the name of the
  104.      bulletin that you want created on line 8 and 9.
  105.  9.  Path and name of ASCii bulletin
  106. 10.  Type of Bulletins (WC = Wildcat!3.x  PCB = PCBoard  N = ANSI/ASCii)
  107.      If you select the WC! or PCB type bulletins, you will only need to
  108.      supply a filename and path for the color bulletin.  You still must
  109.      include line 8.  You may leave it blank though.
  110. 11.  (Y/N)  Create the above bulletins.  This option ONLY works for
  111.      registered versions.  The bulletins are automatically created in
  112.      the DEMO versions.  They cannot be switched off.
  113. 12.  Path to ACTIVITY.LOG.  DO NOT put a filename on this line.  If you
  114.      are running Wildcat!3.x, ClassAds will write to the correct
  115.      ACTIVITY.xxx.  ClassAds will write to a file named ACTIVITY.xxx in
  116.      the directory you have specified if you are not running WC!.  The
  117.      "xxx" will correspond to the node number.
  118. 13.  If you select the option to have ClassAd write bulletins to a
  119.      separate directory, enter the directory path here. (Read DOCs for
  120.      further details.) See SPECIAL DIRECTORY INSTRUCTIONS below.  This
  121.      option is currently *ONLY* available to Wildcat!3.x systems.
  122. 14.  (Y/N) Create the bulletins in the special directory.  This option
  123.      ONLY works for the registered version.  These bulletins are NOT
  124.      created in the DEMO version.  They can not be switched on.
  125. 15.  (Y/N) Create the ASCii text file.  This file is automatically
  126.      created in the DEMO version.  It cannot be switched off.
  127. 16.  Path of the ASCii text file.  DO NOT put a filename here. ADDOR.EXE
  128.      will append "CLASSAD.TXT" to the path you specify. This path *MUST*
  129.      exist as this file is written in the DEMO version.
  130. 17.  "RIP" = Create RIP bulletins "N" = do not create RIP bulls
  131.  
  132. All 17 lines must be present in the CFG file.  The lines that are not
  133. needed or used, may be blank but, they must be there.
  134.  
  135. NOTE: There are 2 additional lines necessary when using GTUSER.BBS. Since
  136.       this file does not provide the ComPort% and NodeNum% variables, you
  137.       will need to add them to this .CFG file on lines 5 and 6
  138.       respectively.

  140. Classified Ads will operate on a multi-line BBS.  If you do not
  141. incorporate the environment variables defined below, you will need a
  142. separate CFG file for each node.  You must give each CFG its own
  143. distinct name.
  144.  
  145.      EX:  CLASSAD1.CFG   CLASSAD2.CFG   CLASSAD3.CFG

  147. CLASSAD.LST
  148.  
  149.      You will need to edit the enclosed "CLASSAD.LST" and include the
  150. categories that suit your individual needs.  This file may contain up to
  151. 20 lines.  Please use and ASCii editor such as Qedit to edit this file as
  152. some word processors add hidden control codes that could cause
  153. unpredictable results.   The maximum length of each line is 25
  154. characters.
  155.  
  156. SPECIAL DIRECTORY INSTRUCTIONS:
  157.  
  158.      This part is only available at the present time to WC!3.x systems.
  159. If, in the future, I can get some idea as to how to implement this on
  160. different systems, I will make it available.
  161.  
  162.  
  163. 13.  If you select the option to have ClassAd write bulletins to a
  164.      separate directory, enter the directory path here. (Read DOCs for
  165.      further details.)
  166.  
  167. To set this function up, you must enter your "Conference Definition"
  168. setup in MAKEWILD.  Create a message conference entitled "Classified
  169. Ads" or whatever title suits your fancy.  Give this conference its own
  170. Bulletin Directory path.  ADDOR.EXE will create the necessary
  171. BULLETIN.BBS and a bulletin for each record listed in the database.
  172. There is no special maintenance that the sysop needs do in this area.
  173. If a record is deleted in the database, ADDOR.EXE will delete the proper
  174. BULLx.BBS.
  175.  
  176. You will need to set the # of bulletins allowed in this area to the
  177. maximum number of bulletins that you expect.  ADDOR.EXE will allow up to
  178. 500 in the database.  WC! allows 999 in each bulletin conference.

  221. 14.  (Y/N) Create the bulletins in the special directory.  This option
  222.      ONLY works for the registered version.  These bulletins are NOT

  225. MISCELLANEOUS NOTES:
  226.  
  227. ADDOR.EXE requires DOS 3.x and up since all files are opened in SHARED mode.
  228.  
  229. When using PCBOARD.SYS, ADDOR.EXE also accesses the USERS file.
  230.  
  231. When using USERS.SYS, ADDOR.EXE also accesses PCBOARD.SYS, PCBOARD.DAT and the
  232. USERS file.
  233.  
  234. The DOOR.SYS used by ADDOR.EXE is the standard 52 line GAP (tm) file.
  235.  
  236. The CALLINFO.BBS used by ADDOR.EXE currently contains 36 lines.
  237.  
  238. WILDCAT! EXTRA:
  239.  
  240. If ADDOR.EXE updates the Text file, it will write a 0-byte file to the
  241. door directory named, CHANGE.FIL.  If you use Transcan to update the WC!
  242. database, you can test for this file and only run TranScan when needed.
  243. Be sure to delete it after running transcan.  There may be utilities
  244. that will update the databases of various other BBS systems.  CHANGE.FIL
  245. is created whenever the CLASSAD.TXT is updated.

  255. Fossil Driver Support
  256. ---------------------
  257. ADDOR.EXE supports the use of Fossil drivers.  To tell your Door to use the
  258. Fossil driver instead of the standard COM ports, just put /FD on the command
  259. line when running the door. For example:
  260.      MYDOOR MYDOOR.CFG /FD
  261. indicates that a Fossil driver is present and should be used. If no Fossil
  262. driver is detected, ADDOR.EXE will print a message to that effect and exit
  263. the door gracefully.
  264.  
  265.      Unless you are using a Digi-board, do not use the "/FD" switch with
  266. ADDOR.EXE.  There is a bug in DoorFrame pertaining to fossil drives that
  267. causes erratic behavior.
  268.  
  269. Environment Variables
  270. ---------------------
  271. ADDOR.EXE supports COM 1-4 on the standard IRQ's - COM1/COM3 = IRQ4 and
  272. COM2/COM4 = IRQ3. If you wish to use a non-standard IRQ, add the IRQ
  273. number after the configuration filename. Let's assume your Door is
  274. called FOOBAR and you want to use COM1 and IRQ5. The command line
  275. passed to your Door would be:
  276.     FOOBAR FOOBAR.CFG /5  or
  277.     FOOBAR FOOBAR.CFG /%IRQ%  for the environment variable.
  278. The /5 tells ADDOR.EXE to use IRQ5 rather than the standard IRQ4 that
  279. is normally used with COM1. No /x parameter is needed for the standard IRQ's.
  280.  
  281. When specifying the location of the system file on line 1 of the doors .CFG
  282. file, you may use the environment variables %pcbdrive%, %pcbdir%, %pcbnode%,
  283. and %wcnodeid%. Some examples:
