Copyright
=========
Yes it is. This program is Copyrighted and is the property of Benny Carr.
You are being granted a limited license to use it. You may not disassemble
nor alter this program in any manner.
Registration
============
Naw. Nope. None required. In the spirit of RBBS-PC and other fine
"freebie" packages, there is no charge required to use this program. If
you wanna use it ... be my guest.
What Did You Get
================
CDVIEW.DOC - Hopefully you got this cause your reading it.
CDVIEW.EXE - The actual program.
CDVIEW.DAT - Sample config file.
FILE_ID.DIZ - Included description file.
What Is It
==========
CDView will read a text file that contains CDOR SmartText codes and display
the file appropriately. Color will be displayed according to either the
CDOR default colors, or a .CLR file that you specify. SmartText codes will
be displayed in the foreground and background colors that you specify. The
only SmartText code that will actually "work" is SP (Space). If you have
the code {SP in a text file then a space will be inserted versus displaying
'SP'. CDView's SmartText codes are current as of the 94.03 CDOR release.
This program is not intended to be used on the external language file but
is a viewer for text files such as bulletins, help files, etc.
How Do I Use It
===============
The first thing to do is decide where to put the program and support config
file. I keep mine in a seperate subdirectory. Next you will need to copy
CDVIEW.EXE and CDVIEW.DAT into this directory. Next you'll need to alter
the inclosed CDVIEW.DAT file to suit your particular needs. You may alter
the actual data but DO NOT rename CDVIEW.DAT to anything else. CDVIEW.DAT
is the file I'm looking for! :)
Below is an explanation of the CDVIEW.DAT file.
New Woodstk RBBS <-- Your BBS name
Benny Carr <-------- Your name
123 <--------------- SmartText control code.
[1;37m <------------ SmartText display code foreground color
[45m <-------------- SmartText display code background color
NONE <-------------- Name of .CLR file to use
Line 1) Your BBS name would go here.
Line 2) Your name would go here.
Line 3) The SmartText control code you've assigned for RBBS-PC.
This will be the same thing you've assigned to RBBS-PC
config entry #17.
Line 4) When CDView displays the SmartText code it will do so in
color so as to make it stand out. This entry is where
you tell CDView what color to make the foreground.
Line 5) This is the background color for the SmartText code color
display.
Line 6) If you use the CDOR option of creating your own .CLR file,
then this is where you'll tell CDView where to find that
.CLR file. An example would be C:\RBBS\RBBS-PC.CLR.
Please not the lack of the trailing '\'. If you are happy
with the CDOR default color then enter NONE here.
At this point typing CDVIEW and hitting enter should do it for you.
Support And New Releases
========================
Support and new releases can be obtained by contacting me in one of the ways
listed below. If you have problems getting it running or want to report a
problem please upload or enter an example of your CDVIEW.DAT file.

Added support for Black text on White background.
Added support for DesqView detection.

Drastically improved the viewing function. It works
much better now.
Credits
=======
Thanks to the Copyright holders and various authors for RBBS-PC, as well
as all involved with CDOR. If it wasn't for them this program would serve
no real purpose. :)
Thanks go out to those of you out there that are willing to try CDView and
for your input towards any future releases.
Thanks to my family for letting me play.
Thanks to Robert Zale for PowerBasic
Fixes/Enhancements
==================
CDView is another step in my self education to learn to write in BASIC.
Thusly I will do my best to fix problems reported and add enhancements
that may be suggested, as I figure out how to do them. :)
